Rehearsal dinner dress for winter wedding....

One of my littles is getting married in 2 weeks... I realized that I don't have a dress to wear for the rehearsal dinner. It's not at too fancy of a place, so it doesn't have to be too formal. But I haven't had a reason to own many dresses in a few years, so I need to get something!

Dresses in the winter are always tricky, too, b/c you don't want to freeze your behind off.

Any suggestions as to what I should look for? I'm an 8/10, so size wise I'm fine with pretty much any store. I'd prefer not to spend too much b/c i'm already spending a ton on everything...

These kinds of threads are always fun, too ;)

i have two friends who are extremely clever when it comes to finding bargains. they both could shop anywhere, but they sort of make a game out of finding great looking clothes at discounted prices. they both swear by marshalls, and i have seen outfits they have bought there that you would swear were designer stuff. they always look lke a million bucks. talbots has a great dress that is a psuedo-diane von furstenberg criss-cross dress that is in stores now. i bought the black version and received lots of compliments and it is so comfortable.

I've always had a lot of luck with www.bluefly.com especially for wedding related events.

You can search by size, color, designer, price range, day/evening, long/short. The quality has always been exceptional and I have seldom needed to return anything because of fit.

Many of the dresses are an extra 20% off for a pre-spring sale -

Thanks for the suggestions! FSUZeta... I had totally forgotten about Marshalls, and there are several near me. I guess having worked at TJ Maxx in high school I end up forgetting about Marshalls. They had really nice dresses... nicer than TJ Maxx, though I haven't looked in TJ Maxx for dresses in a long time.

I ended up getting 2 dresses. One Jones New York from Marshalls, and another (don't remember the brand... it's in my car) from Macy's

Both cute. I'll end up keeping both, I have at least 2 weddings to go to this year, plus graduation, so I'll use of them. just have to make up my mind which to wear!
:D

IMHO, you can never go wrong with Jones New York. Unless, of course, you have a multi-million dollar trust fund...

Don't forget about Ross and or if you have a Gottschalks nearby they usually have an "attic section" w/ discounted clothing.
