FIJI at Southern Methodist Suspended, Under Trusteeship
FIJI has placed its chapter at Southern Methodist under an alumni trusteeship, pending further investigation, according to the SMU student paper:
http://www.smudailycampus.com/vnews/.../4212da4500807 It appears that no one's saying very much about the reasons for the action, at least not for public consumption. |

They can't function as a fraternity yet the trusteeship supervises them. What do they supervise then? -Rudey |

Rudey, not to contridict You, but what dont You understand?
Please expound You question. They Seem to be given Some form of Activism but only under Their IHQ Stewardship with The Schools approval. |
Sounds similar to what LXA at SMU went through in the early 1990's. They weren't suspended, but were under alumni control for several years.
This was one of the driving forces behind the organization of the Dallas area LXA alumni association, as I recall. LXA at SMU has been a fantastic chapter in recent years as a result of the previous alumni control - brought an out-of-control chapter back to life. I hope FIJI has the same outcome. Was it the FIJI or Beta house that burned down in 1990-91 at SMU? |
True that!!
It maybe a very Viable way for PhiGDelta to keep the Chapter alive with the blessing of The School. I am sure all of us have been in the same situation. Alums are held in higher esteem as controlors than Young Active Members. So, this may well be the way for them to stay on Campus with some sanctions. We as Greeks Only Hope so. I Hope! |
