Wedding Traditions

MY LITTLE JUST GOT ENGAGED! :D I'm so excited for her! This makes the second KD wedding that I will be attending in the next year. I was wondering if any of you ladies have any cool traditions that you have done at sisters' weddings, (aside from the ones that are featured on Annie's website, because I've seen all those!)

Maybe after Valentine's day we will have some more KD proposals to celebrate?! (Not me, I'm just saying...;))

I'd be interested in some new ideas, too.

Especially maybe ones that could be done privately. One of my littles is getting married in a couple weeks. She wasn't a very active KD, joined when she was a junior and was inactive for awhile. Another one of the bridesmaids is a KD but she's known her since they were kids. So being a KD wasn't, unfortunately, too big of a part of her life, but I'd love to do something little for her.

Here's an idea that's not on Annie's website! :o

Find one of those frames that have the "Love is Kind..." scripture & put in a photo of the couple.

I did a quick search on froogle & found this:

Annie,

You know I love your website sistah! ;) I was just wondering if anyone had any new ideas, or cute songs to sing. At the last sister's wedding we sang the "White Rose of Beauty." Is there a specific Kappa Delta wedding song that anyone knows of?

That's a really pretty frame...maybe I could get it for my OTHER sister getting married in April! Yep, Valentines day brought on the proposals (and a lavaliering too!)

AOT,
Shae

If you're the south, i'd go for the fall. Even up here in Pittsburgh, I remember when my uncle got married in August it was SO hot! They had some pictures taken outside at a local amusement part... they were all red faced and sweaty. So I guess that's a big reason why I prefer fall weddings:)

I don't know if this will be useful to anyone, but in my chapter for White Rose week bigs give their littles baskets filled with stuff, and on the last day we give them a white garter with this note:

"A fivolous, utterly feminine bit of satin and lace to be worn to the accompaniment of dreams fulfilled and a heart overflowing. _On these special days, because you are a Kappa Delta, those who share your dreams bear hearts lifting with song."

I was thinking that this would be something very nice to give to a bride as well, as maybe a gift from her sisters. Just a thought!

I do love some of our chapter traditions :)

Sadly, my middle little's garter didn't make it to her wedding... those things yellow and fray and stuff really quickly! I took her in Spring 2001 and here, 4 years later for her wedding it wasn't really wearable. I know mine is pretty yellow and ratty now, too. I was going to buy her a new one but she had already gotten them

Yesterday one of my pledge sisters got married! There were only a couple sisters there, and we were kind of unsure what to at the reception. But her husband and some of the groomsmen are Beta Theta Pis, so they all got down on one knee and sang "Beta Rose." We decided to sing "White Rose of Beauty" and at the end, we did our hotty toddy cheer thing.

She carried a white rose bouquet, and all of the groomsmen had white rose boutennires (sp?). Sooooo cute!

hmmm

I got married at 30, and some things that would have been perfect for me at 23 in Florida would have seemed odd in New York, marrying a non Greek. A garter (I still have it- it is really poufy) would have been a bad choice under my wedding gown. Sadly, my big sis did not make it to my wedding, since she has 2 little kids whom she could not leave at the time. My wedding was sort of KD-less. Too bad.

hey ladies... its been a while since ive posted on here..

I'm a KD from MTSU's Delta Pi chapter. I was recently at a wedding for a sister, where another KD sister from Moorehead also attended. We were able to introduce her to a new song to sing to the bride: Green and White.

I was just wondering about other songs. Everyone keeps mentioning this website, where do I find it?

Thanks ladies.

.

If you go to the KD Website, the song book is on the Exclusively KD side in the file cabinet. Hopefully you will learn some new songs from the songbook.
