mixer bids

i'm our social chair this year and i dont have much experience approaching the sororities and giving them bids for mixers. i was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas to make a good impression on the girls

Go to the chapter's house and serenade them. Then present them with your invitation.

If the chapter doesn't have a house, then check with the sorority's social chair about coming after a meeting and serenading them.

If singing isn't y'all's forte, then perhaps having a few members show up dressed to the nines and present the chapter with the invitation.

Basically, fraternities do better when they present themselves with class and dignity.

if you can swing it...

find a way to get all the girls out of the house. Maybe invite them all out to dinner or a barbaque or just to come over to your house, but , don't make any mention of your mixer. While they're out of their house, have a couple of your guys go over to their house and decorate the outside of their house and put their flower on their porch or whatever, and if you can swing it, maybe spell out your intent in candles (Mixer? would be cool). If you can't do that, a sign will work. If you had them at your house, offer to escort the girls back to their house, so you're there to see their reaction (and help clean up)

Oh you kids. ;)

'To the nines' means dressed up. In this case, perhaps wearing khakis, collared shirts and ties.
