Chapter Presidents
Evening everyone,
I just wanted to know if anybody had some good information that I could pass on to my Chapter's new President. We went through our Nationals officer transition program but I feel he needs something more to help him develop himself as a Fraternity President. If you know of any sources that might help I'd be glad to hear about them |
advice for chapter leaders
not sure of this is what you were looking for, but here are a few general things i just brainstormed --
hold a chapter forum, compile and analyze results, then discuss set goals with other officers use these ideas to improve recruitment, service, development and social programming have a clear vision for the year - this makes the difference between keeping things as they are and being an agent of change in the organization - you want to leave office with the organization better than when you found it make sure everyone is aware of the goals and vision make sure everyone has something to do, get them involved appoint committees and chairmen review budget document everything you do apply for awards delegate talk to area advisors to be a good leader - always give more credit than you take and here is a great thread on motivation ideas - http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...esident+advice |
Every year we have a retreat (meaning we just go to someone's apartment) and all of the offices write up a "what we want to accomplish, what we did well, what we didn't do well, and suggestions on making it better". This is also our time to brainstorm ideas for changing our image if we need to, or address any other issues.

There are several APO resources: Leadership Series booklet on Chapter Presidents. Get him to attend Launch and go to Serve this summer (4 locations around the country). Speak with other chapter presidents in his section/region. Run your chapter thru a Chapter Program Planning Conference, ideally as a full day (or weekend) retreat. There are many other resources in the leadership clearinghouse section of the National website, and on the Chapter Resource CD. |
