Congrats to Tom and LX Zeta
Gents:
Below is an article from a newspaper in the Pittsburg area. ZAX- Matt PSU fraternity breaks ground on new house Lambda Chi Alpha to locate new house where old used to stand By JOE NOGA Morning Sun Staff Writer After nearly 10 years of planning and waiting, the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity broke ground on their new house in Pittsburg Saturday. Kent Bumgarner, president of the Lambda Chi Alpha Housing Corporation, said the old house was torn down in August 2003 because it simply became too run-down to be lived in any longer. "It was too old, too out-of-shape, too dangerous for young men to live in and it was time for a new house," Bumgarner said. The new house will be built on the same site as the old stood for more than a century at 101 W. Lindburg. "We knew 10 years ago we were going to need a new one," Bumgarner said. "The seeds were planted and over the last four years we've been raising money. We raised enough to tear down the old one. It has taken a while but we had a fraternity brother from Colorado, Tom Roach, step up and guarantee the loan for the house." Paul Chappell, a local fraternity alumnus, said they don't have any figures on how much the new facility will the cost. "We are looking at six bedrooms up stairs, with sleeping room for 15," Chappell said. "A full basement and 22 spaces for off-street, paved parking." Bumgarner said the new house will be a great addition to the Lambda Chi Alpha organization, Pittsburg State University and the City of Pittsburg. "It is wonderful for us and I can't help but think that this is good for Pittsburg," Bumgarner said. "The old house looked bad, this is a new house, a new beginning, right on Broadway. I think it is great for the school and the city because it is new, it shows progress." Chappell said the new facility will certainly be impressive. "This is going to a marquee house on a high-profile corner here that is really going to enhance the whole area," Chappell said. |
congrats to the brothers at PSU...

OH WOW!
Brothers, You cannot imagine how exciting a weekend it was!:D
I felt important and proud as Hell. I was one of the Dirt Turners for the picture taken on Site of our Three corner lots at 101 W. Lindburg. Helmet and all. One of the Alums got The Picture from The Pittsburg Sun and is going to send me one so I can Frame it and Hang on the wall along with the shovel. Also won one of the Silver/Chrome Shovels that night at Our Auction for $200.00. Had to win that baby, and will be engraved for the Occasion. As was said by one of the Brothers, out with The Old House and address, in with The New House and New Address, looks like 1900 Broadway will be it. It will house 15 Memebers, with 6 two man rooms on the second floor with conecting Common Baths between each pair of rooms and one on the 1 st Floor for H A. Needless to say, All of The Brothers of LX Z are giddy as hell! Thanks!!!!! |
I live in the new house and it is wonderful, if any alumni havent been by in a while drop on by, we got most of the old composites up that we had in storage and we finally have our letters on the front of the house (it only took paul chappell 6 months to do it LOL).

Nice new house! Say, is it possible to "upgrade" the attic by adding dormers and a few more rooms? |

We owned as House Corporation a 3 lot corner which gave us room for parking in the rear. Since this picture, landscapeing was added and you can see the Sign that two Brothers designed and was paid for by Alums. The Coat of Arms on the sign was commisioned by the same two Brothers and I purchased one just like it that will go into the house after I find someone to make a Oak plaque to attach it to. I pushed to have LXA letters to be placed over the front stoop and a Brother did it and they are now up in Bronze coloring. One of these days, I want to have a lighted Badge hanging from the house. I have the full blue prints so someday, it may happen! Now, finding someone to make it!:) Thanks for reposting this and hope it gives other Zetas the desire to go for it! Thank you R R for calling me to tell me to take a look!:D Last but not least, we did not get the address as were sued by a place south of us, so we still have the same address, 101 West Lindburg. To give an idea of location: It is across from the Campus. Across the street from the ASA and PSE houses, just a block away from the SX and PKE houses and just North of the AGD house. |

Why not do it in stained glass? Lit from behind. |

LOL, you are behind me on this! I have the actual Badge blue prints and would love to have a back lit one maybe not of stained glass as that is super expensive. I know only to well as I got a stained glass C O A for the house and one of the Alums is suppose to build a box so that it can be back lit and hung in the house. Maybe one that was painted on a clear plastic and back lit would be more cost effective and last a Looooong time!:) |
