Fraternity man shot by arrow on "E.R."

Did anyone else catch last night's (02.03) episode of "E.R."? There was a brief scene where a college student was brought in with an arrow in his stomach. There were only a couple of lines saying he was a member of a fraternity - which sounded like DKE. (Delta Kappa Epsilon)

It was a quick 'throw away' scene and I didn't really catch the jest of it all. Apparently, the 'pledge' was told to put an apple on his head - ala William Tell - and that a 'brother' would shoot it off with an arrow with a rubber suction cup tip. However, he used a real arrow-head tip.

It was suppose to be a 'light' bit - and I admit I did find myself grinning about it - but it really didn't paint fraternity men in a good light.

I saw it and thought it was hilarious. Only b/c my atty here at work was a DKE, so I immediately thought of him.

Right after he said that, the brother that was with him (the patient) said they didn't think he'd actually let them do it. That's what made it so humorous.

There is a certain frat with a star above their front door, well its about 20 feet above their door and another frat that was across the street from them used to shoot arrows at the star.

After that scene, they work on arrow guy, and then Carter goes into the lounge and Susan is there, and he comments that the guy went up to surgery and says something about how he wanted to be in a fraternity in college blah blah. It's brief, the character was just doing the awkward talking thing.

But it jumped out at me because in another episode a few seasons back Carter took a few days off to go on a trip with "some of his Sigma Pi fraternity brothers". (*I'm almost 100% certain they said Sigma Pi).

Anyway...that's my geek moment for today lol.

Hey, you're not a geek. As much money as it costs to put ER on the air, you'd think they pay someone to ensure continuity.

Count me in as a fellow "E.R." geek.

I forgot Carter's comment about wanting to join a fraternity. But I don't recall the Sigma Pi road trip. May have missed that one.

For some reason I remember Sigma Nu. But it was definitely one of the two.

Yeah, here is a thread that I posted in this summer right after I saw the episode. It's Sigma Nu.

I remember the trip but not anything about going with fraternity brothers. Normally, I pick up on those things, so how I missed it is beyond me.
