Blanco reaches out to isolated Mink

BATON ROUGE -- Gov. Kathleen Blanco's plans to launch long-awaited telephone service to the Natchitoches Parish community of Mink by making the first-ever phone call to one of the 15 families there ran into a snag Monday.

She got a busy signal.

what's interesting is is that there are other communities in the same boat. when i worked for MCI years ago (early 90s), i talked w/this woman who lived in an area that only had party lines. i had to ask her what those were:p
