The Facebook
I just put a profile up... really cool site. If you're on it, I would love to add you as a friend! (sadly I don't have many yet...lol):p I'm Stefani C. at Texas Tech if you want to add me!
|
I tried adding you... at least I hope that was you... hehehehe... otherwise there is another stefani c. that will be wondering why some random person from UNT is trying to add them :p
|
there are 2 Stefani C's! and one Stephanie C. Didn't want to add the wrong one, so I didn't add you yet. lol....
I'm Emily M @ U. of Miami so feel free to add me, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one so there shouldn't be any confusion. :) (BTW- I am IN LOVE with the facebook. haha, used to be crazy obsessed, but the novelty is starting to wear off.... I guess that's cause all of UM is pretty much on it now, it's time to start venturing out to other schools.) |
Emily...I am the only stefani with no 'e' at the end. There are three emily m's at miami...lol.:)
|
found ya. =) .... I realized that there were now 3 Emily M's after I made the post, but GreekChat went down for HOURS during the middle of my edit. I don't know if I can survive without this board! lol. I was going crazy. haha

just a word of caution -
this could be the super paranoid person in me, but please use caution when giving out personal info (like your name and where you go to school) on a public message board. Since this particular forum is public, anyone (including non-ADPi sisters and random people who just surf the internet) can see your information here. So this is just a gentle reminder that this is public and all information posted here can be seen by pretty much anyone. Back to your regularly scheduled thread :) |
True, but have you ever started thinking about all the information that you put on your facebook profile? It's a great idea, but so easy for someone to use it the wrong way. Last semester I actually had a person who used the information on there to sit and wait outside every class for me and then he'd call me all the time.... it was creepy, if I knew him, that would've been a different story. Yet, I still put all my information on there anyway, oh well..
|
that is definitely true. (and kinda scary!) facebook offers privacy "filters" that can be utilized to limit who can "see" your profile and what information they can see (like your interests or contact information)
Just a thought though.. I wasn't trying to deter anyone from posting.. just a gentle reminder :) |
Facebook and xanga/journal sites were mentioned at DLC like five hundred times, just beware... they're planning on suspending chapters for incriminating info found through girls on these sites.

I am a little concerned about facebook and the image it gives of our members. I was recently forced to join by my loving husband :) (Jennifer C...alumna, WSU if you want to add me) and was looking at the profiles of sisters at various schools. I was quite upset to find some of the things that are listed as activities or clubs. I really don't think these present the proper image we want the general public to see. I'm not sure they are things that would get the chapter suspended, I just don't think they look good for the group. Does anyone know if there are any rules about this or is there anything we can do to let our members know that this might not be appropriate? I am just concerned because I don't want facebook to come back and bite our chapters in the proverbial butt. Maybe I am just overly paranoid, but I am still concerened. Any thoughts?

Katy Emily, and Stefani, I added you as friends...just to let you know. :)
|
Our chapter president asked us to please take out anything from our facebook profiles that doesn't represent ADPi well for example inappropriate pictures, anything with drinking, or any innappropriate clubs or groups. She said that if we felt we had to have that stuff on our profile to kindly take Alpha Delta Pi off our profiles. Something else to think about...our president was saying that we should be careful because possible employers who know about facebook may also chose to look at our profiles so we should try to represent ourselves in the best light possible! This may sound a little obsessive but it's something to think about...
