What to do the year after graduation?

I may have to wait an extra semester as I graduate for my fiance to finish up his schooling... in which case that would mean I would have to wait the year before enrolling into the teacher certification program I want to take... I'm going to be going for Japanese teacher certification after I graduate / get married in 2006... but only few universities offer this, the one I currently attend, not being one of them. The nearest place is about 2-3 hours from here... So we would need to move to be near there.

So if I have to take a year off before grad school, what sort of places can I work at with a bachelors in Chinese & Japanese Studies? Or should I just get some non-degree oriented job for the time?

I know it might not be the most wanted option, but why not start your program while your finace is finishing up his degree. That way when he graduates you already have a place in the new city and he doesnt have to worry about it. Being 2-3 hours away from only 1 semester wouldnt be terrible. not ideal but there could be much worse.

My opinion would be go for it. I am graduating a full year ahead of my boyfriend and we have already decided that i will pursue my career where ever that takes me and that he will join me after graduating.

What about as an interpreter or giving language lessons? I know there is a huge need for both of these, especially the interpreter. Hospitals especially use a "language bank" (I think that is what it's called) to translate services to their patients.

I don't know what you can do with your degree, but if you don't start school, why not get a job that would be fun, but you know you wouldn't want to do forever. Just do something so you aren't 'hanging' around while he is all busy with school. I'd think about just starting your program. Or getting an emergency teaching cert (do they do this out side of PA?) and you can teach for a semester, get experience but not be totally tied down.

Maybe you could be a traveling consultant for KKG? You would get to travel and help out collegiate chapters. Sounds like a fun job to me!

In Ohio you could substitute teach with a Bachelor's in basically anything! Can you do that there?
