Pakistan bans lavish weddings

Quote:

ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Like any blushing bride, Uzma Riaz was nervous. Radiant in her red silk wedding dress and with impossibly intricate henna patterns on her hands, this was the biggest day of her life.

But the 23-year-old had good reason to feel anxious, for instead of the lavish, 10-course banquet she had dreamed of having at her reception, her ravenous guests were being served ... cups of soup....

Pfft; that's not news. Now, if New Jersey banned lavish weddings; THAT would be news.

Not meant to offend the Jersey GC'ers. I just know that when I go to a wedding in my husband's family (Exit 11!), I am going to be fed, fed and then fed some more  Then they'll bring out the dessert table!

Exit 11...hmmm, thats the cross over from the Turnpike to Parkway. Which means you are still in North Jersey...where we have lavish weddings, and typically the bigger the better (much like our hair in the 80's).

Unless you mean the Parkway...or some other road. Then I can't comment on their weddings. I went to a sister's south jersey wedding, and it was just STRANGE!!!!

Union County??!! My friend works at the parks dept there. I didn't take that job because I didn't think I was allowed back in that county (3 ex bfs within a like a 15 mile radius in that county)

I love it when out-of-staters think we ask people where they live by the turnpike exit numbers. Such a myth (i'm exit 14).

Haha, I myself avoid Union County since my inlaws are there and they are evil. It's a shame, really, because I love the Ledo Diner on Route 22. But if I can't have the Ledo without the in-laws, well then that's how it is. :(

RUGreek: 14A, B or C?
