Essential Kung Fu Movies

For the Kung-Fu heads, what are the essential Kung Fu flicks you think I should purchase on DVD?

Sidenote: Feel free to purchase them for me. :)

Twin Warriors
Fist of Legend
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Once Upon a Time in China #1
Iron Monkey
Dragon Inn
The Shaolin Temple

more to come

I'm not really into Kung Fu movies at all, or foreign films, but I really like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for some reason.

Also, not really a Kung Fu movie but kinda, "Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story" was realllllly good.

The following titles by Zhang Yimou:

Hero

House of flying Daggers

Raise the red lantern

These are all extremely visual movies that are just awe inspiring to watch. But honestly, the small screen doesn't do them justice.

Here is a page with Ebert reviews of the movies.

Moulin Rouge

If a movie theater employee spikes the popcorn with acid, it becomes the best Kung Fu movie ever.

I finally saw Hero this weekend. The way they told the story was really cool, and it was very beautifully filmed.

Iron Monkey is my very favorite movie ever.

I agree with all of moe.ron's list and off the top of my head I would add:

Once Upon a Time in China II (better than the first IMO but both are great)

Fist of Legend

The Legend

Drunken Master

Kung Fu Cult Cinema is a great resource for kung fu.

Ugh on Hero. It also is a movie that I know many, many people did not like.

Senusret, the only kung fu movie you need in your library stars Bruce Lee and has Kareem Abdul Jabbar as Hakim:

Has anyone seen Ong-Bak? i hadn't heard about it until yesterday when i saw an ad for it, with the RZA (wu-tang clan). it looks like it'll be pretty great.

It's a Thai film. It came out abroad probably a couple years ago and was just released in the US (I think through a French distrib).

If RZA was in it, I didn't noticed him.

The film was beyond awful. This was such a low budget movie that the car chase scene consisted of little bumper cats chasing each other.
