running for president
Hi everyone,
Our elections are coming up, and I'm running for chapter President. I was wondering if any of you have any fun things to do to recognize members of your chapter, or any fun programs to use to make Sisters more excited for things. I have some ideas, but I'd love to hear from you. Tau love, Cristina |
We had the "Sunshine Sister" The idea is you pick the first sunshine sister, maybe she had the most study hours for the week, or got an A+ on an exam, you give her a note and a treat. Next chapter she is responsible to passing the sunshine sister on to another, and so on. We also had Sister of the Week / Super Sister letters, they actually had sis of the week on the back, and those got passed each week to the sister who had done something above and beyond. We also had a "Tau Turtle", now the Tau Turtle was passed within a family, and the person was always unknown. If you had been a Tau Turtle you might reveal it at Senior passdowns when you graduate, but must have already passed it to somone else. The Tau Turtle would do nice things for the chapter, leave notes, etc. It was cool. We always made random things up, we had a spirit paddle, that was passed to the person with the most spirit each week. we also had the RAY award, stood for Rush All Year, a bag of skittles was given to the person each week that exemplified "Rush 24/365!!" I think that was it.

We had a laquared (sp?) yellow rose that a grandmother donated to our founders. Each week it (starting w/the pres at the beginning of the semester) was given to a sister who did something to exemplify sisterhood. Maybe the giver needed a shoulder, or they won an atheletic game, then the person recieving it signed a sheet of paper that was in the little box, so we have a list of all the great sisterhood things we've done.
We also had our beads. We took mardi gras beads, green and gold, and we passed them around on thursdays, the day we all wore letters. It started because we actually had sisters who would not talk to other sisters unless they had to. It was looking so bad on campus. The beads, which no one was really that thrilled to be wearing, encouraged people to pass them on so they didn't have to wear them. If they were turned in at chapter that night, the person got a piece of candy or something. |
