Nelly Donates to MLK Memorial Project (Alphas)
ST. LOUIS, MO Wednesday Jan.12.2005 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- Nelly has made a donation of $50,000 to the Martin Luther King Memorial Project Foundation, reports the St. Louis American. The money will go towards building a memorial to Dr. King on the mall in Washington, DC.
Nelly told the paper, "I think anytime you can be in conjunction with a great man such as Dr. King, it's only right." Around $100 million dollars are needed to build and maintain the Martin Luther King Memorial. About $65 million has already been raised, according to MTV.com. FYI - The MLK Memorial Project is a national project sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The National Executive Director of the project, LeRoy Lowery, is a Brother in my chapter and past Interim Eastern Region Vice President. He is also the son of civil rights leader James Lowery. |
It's great to see Nelly make a contribution. hopefully more will follow.

It's always great to see rappers doing something for the community, because the fact of the matter is not all of them give back.
Senusret I, is there anyway for everyday individuals to make donations? |
