Techno Help, Please!
I need to convert a headshot of me into a .jpg. Now, I know I've done it before, but it was with a scanner, and then had to be viewed in an online photo album. Is that the norm? What if you get a photo on a disc - how do you make that into a .jpg?
I promise that I'll explain what this is all about in a few weeks - IF I can get the necessary .jpg! |
Honey,
When you upload the scanned image, click save as. But before you okay the save, change the extension (below the file name) to jpg or gif. Either should work. If you need jpg, use jpg. Another option is to put it in MS paint and then save as changing the extension. Try that and let me know if that helps. Is the picture already on an online photo album?? If so, i can save it, change it and email it to you in jpg form. |
Sherra, the photo isn't scanned, it's on a disc. Is that different?
I've actually scanned & edited regular photos, and I think I could do that again. I think! Oh, and when they say, "Send us a head shot in a jpg" do I give the web address, or what? |
On disk should be easy. It should already be in jpg form.
But pull it up on the disk, do a save as and follow my previous instructions saving it on your computer. Then just attach it in an email. If they said send a jpg, they don't necessarily mean the link from a webpage. I would take that to mean that they want it sent as an attachment. |

What's all the mystery about? Is it something exciting? |
I'm sure this can be done w/ other programs, but I have Adobe Photoshop and would be glad to convert the images to jpegs :)

Out of curiosity, what is the extention on the files existingly?

I'm tempted to send them a group shot of me in Sam's Army and say, "I'm the one with the red hair and khaki shorts." |
Can you view the photos? Open the one you want and right click on it doing a save as. Try to change the extension there. If not, open the newly saved file with a photo editor and change the extension. I really hope that helps. All files have extensions, it jsut may be hard to recognize what kind of file it is.
When you open the photo, what progam does it default to view it? |
Yes, I keep getting the red x.
I'm not even using the best of the photos. I just want to get it done at this point! |
Does this make sense?

HOney, did you change the extension on th saved file? If not, just attach it to an email as is. It is already in the jpg format.
|
No, I haven't changed anything. So, just sending that will do it? Or is it only viewable on my hard drive?
|
Just send it as is. But I would recommend attaching it from the disk, not your computer (since youhad problems opening it). If you want, you can try sending it to me first, I'll email you back to let you know if it went okay. :)
