Making Sigma stand out!

So, in two weeks my chapter along with all the other groups will be extending their bids. The official begining of new member education begins on February 4th.

What does your chapters do in the final weeks to I do not want to say "sell" but give your chapter that extra push to make it stand out among the rest? From past experience I think this is an area my undergrad chapter needs a little bit of work. In the past we have done small gifts and things, but it has usually been just too expensive considering the number of girls and the fact that they have a week from when they are given their bid to when they accept. I have already suggested to the current Recruitment chair to send emails over winter break just to say hey, and that they are being thought of and such. Does anyone else have any ideas and advice?

Just to recap about the campus I was from: 1,300 people, normal sorority pledge class 10-20, we are the only national.

(Also, I know I have read on other boards about there being strict rules regarding communications with potential members (NPC rules maybe?) but we do not have those so anything is a possibility.

Thanks in advance :)

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. You give small gifts BEFORE they accept bids? Are you asking how to make Sigma stand out during recruitment?

Yes, as wierd as it sounds. . . groups give out small items before bids are accepted (door decs, little trinkets etc-nothing with letters on them of course. I mean a girl could potentialy get bids from all the sororities so you can imagine what her door and room might look like!)

What I am trying to ask (if I can write my thoughts clearly;) ) is the week from the day the students get back on campus to the day bids are accepted what would you all suggest as ideas for my undergrad chapter to try during this time to solidify the girls who are definately going to go with us, and then be that extra push to those who are on the fence between us and another group? So Jocelyn, in a way yes- how do you make Sigma stand out?

Hope this is a bit more clear..:)

Just be your wonderful selves. Maybe invite them out to bowl or something fun if they're on the fence. I'm not sure I like gifts. To me, if you want to go Sigma, you'll accept the bid even if we don't give you anything to persuade you.

Don't know if I am too late on this... but pone thing that will make you as a chapter stand out and remind the girls of you on campus would be to co-ordinate your t-shirts. This is something that we do at my campus before recruitment. We are required to wear certain shirts on certain days of the week. It really looks good on campu when you are all wearing the same shirt and it makes you look really big because people tend to notice large groups of people in the same outfit. It also shows unity and is sure to get noticed by the girls you are looking to get on Bid Day. It's a good way to keep Sigma on their mind. Just make sure everyone makes an effort to wear their letters with pride and take a little extra care in their appearance.
FOr now that is all I can suggest because I don't know about giving candy or whatever. Maybe if you did give cany you could write little notes for each thing you gave...like hugs to a hope ful sister (if you give hersheys hugs) and stuff like that.
Maybe you can do the same stuff just revamp it a little. If you do dorr signs for each girls take extra time to come up witha theme and creative idea for each girl. Have the artsy people draw them out and everyone else paint them.
Hope I helped.
