Do Opposites Really Attract?

Which has a better chance for success?

A couple who has a lot in common, and who can do a lot together, OR;

A couple who is ver different and can balance each other out.

Your thoughts?

The couple who has a shared vision and decided that they will stick it out no matter what.

A couple who has a lot in common, and who can do a lot together, OR;

-Yes, background wise (income, educational, racial, religious, etc.)

A couple who is ver different and can balance each other out.

-Yes, personality wise (thinker/feeler, planner/spontaneous, dominant/submissive, etc.)

yes! You have to have a common ground. If two people are too different, they will never get along.

I believe this type of couple has the best chance for success. They have similar interests, and so are more likely to spend time together pursuing those interests, rather than going off in different directions all the time. However, it's important that each partner have an interest or two that the other does not necessarily share, so each partner has their own pursuits independent of the other.

I think this one.
Opposites might "attract" but I think commonality is what will bring longevity.

Also, my friend's Dad (the Dad is divorced and on Wife #2), he also felt the above. He said that he and Wife #1 (my friend's Mom) did not have that much in common, when it came right down to it.

People who who have a lot in common have the best chance of doing well together, although they should have some separate interests to keep things from being boring.

Andy, I'm heading down to SA this spring to visit my best friend while her hubby is in Iraq. She lives in the 78249 ZIP code. Is that anywhere near you?

I think it's just sheer luck.

Holy Crap! Thats my backyard. 3 miles from me! Its also where the campus is located (UT-San Antonio). Wow. I could call Adri (SATX*APhi) and we could all go out for coffee or a few drinks or whatever. I know shed be down for it. Maybe if Docet is still here we coudl even get him off base/outta the hood and he could meet up with us. Have our own mini-GC meeting.

Aw...you guys will have so much fun! I'm envious.

Back to the topic, I have to say, while couples should have stuff in common, I draw the line at couples who dress alike, cuz that's just plain weird and creepy.

PEOPLE DO THAT? Oh man, that's awful. I wonder if they also dress up their dogs in little bride and groom costumes. It happens!
