You might want to consider buying a new machine....you can get good machines for 50-100 bucks...

Yes, cleaning it out once a month will help.

Best way to get microwave really clean....get a bowl with water and put dish soap in it. Let it "cook" for about a minute. The combination of the heat and the soap will loosen all of the crud and then wipe it out with paper towels..

regular cleaning, particularly if you made a bit of a mess, makes it a whole lot easier.

My ex-husband once told me that we needed a new toilet in the bathroom that he was supposed to be cleaning (he picked that task!). I asked why? He said "It's really brown and nasty". I suggested he try cleaning it before buying a new one.

Spend some time scrubbing it down, then cover your food from now on, place things on paper plates when they go in there, and wipe it out AT LEAST weekly.

Best way to clean:

1) Plug in

2) Set to "High"

3) Set for 5 minutes

4) Press "Start"

5) Throw in bathtub

6) Jump in.

If it is older, you might consider having it checked for radiation leaks...Just an idea/opinion.

The microwave in our house is possessed. Ever since a lightning strike it will randomly turn on during the day and run for two minutes.

/edit: lighting?
