Could you tell me specifically how to insert headers? I figured out how to get my text in the document (Copy and paste special as an RTF). |
The easiest way that I know of (this is from my InDesign knowledge, so it's close):
To put page numbers, headers, etc... edit your Master Pages. At the bottom of the window should be all your pages. There should be something labeled "L" and "R" if you are using spreads. Double click those and you should get one or two blank pages. To place page numbers, draw a text box in the desired location. There should be something in one of the menus (I think the type menu) that says "Insert Page number." It will either place a little "A" or # or something. If you want headers, just type what your want where you want (top margin or so). When you double click on one of your regular pages, your header and the appropriate page number should be on every page. Does that help? |

This part didn't work for me: To place page numbers, draw a text box in the desired location. There should be something in one of the menus (I think the type menu) that says "Insert Page number." It will either place a little "A" or # or something. If you want headers, just type what your want where you want (top margin or so). So basically, I now know how to insert a header globally, but I still don't know how to insert page numbers. |
On your Master Page, draw the text box where you want your page numbers to appear on the pages.
Then, in the text box, type simultaneously: Command+Option+P (Mac) or Control+Alt+P (Windows) That should insert the page numbers on all subsequent pages in the document. |
That worked!
Thank you all!!!!!!! |

Or just do what the preceeding designer did before me... use white boxes. |
Here's how to fix most of your PageMaker Problems...
under programs, click "remove". |
LOL!!!!
If you have a better program that I can use, feel free to send it to me. Anything I have to pay for is out of the question, lol. |

We're switching from Quark 4.1 to InDesign at work and I'm very excited! We still get the occasional PageMaker file and every once in a blue moon we have people ask us if they can submit Publisher files. Ummmm. No.
|
ah, lo siento Senusret! Nothing that doesn't cost big $$
|
GAH!!! Publisher files are the WORST! The only think I can suggest to clients about MS Pub is to give me a PDF. That way I can at least try and edit the PDF in Illustrator or something.
The groovy thing about InDesign is that you can import Pagemaker files into it and make it an InDesign file. There are some bumps in the kerning and leading, but it's an easy fix. Senusret, I remember reading that you are a substitute teacher. Go to www.academicsuperstore.com (I think) and you can order all KINDS of software at a huge discount. All you have to do is fax in proof that you are paid by a district/are a student. I got the entire Adobe CS suite for about $400. |
QUARK.....HELP!!!!!!!
I hate this piece of crap. Any experts? |
