Jerry Orbach Dies...

http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Co...hmed_8a.h2.jpg

This is posted in Chit Chat, but may belong here as well.

Veteran stage, screen and TV actor Jerry Orbach has died of Cancer.

Most of you probably know him as Detective Lennie Brisco from the Law and Order series, but I saw him in 1967 on Broadway in Promises, Promises for which he won a Tony.

A fine actor.

I believe AP said he was 69 years old.

Here's his NBC Bio...

:( This just breaks my heart. I'm a big fan of his, and I'm also one who watches Law & Order whenever it is on. He was a very versitile actor who will be greatly missed.

Very sad news. Shocking also because, as I understood it, this is a very quick death for someone with prostate cancer. Usually the disease takes much longer (unless it spread).

Either way, may he rest in peace; sad news about an excellent actor.

That's so sad. He was one of the most enjoyable actors I've seen on L & O. He also had some of the best quotes/ one liners on the show.

He will be missed. R.I.P., Jerry. :(

His work on Broadway was amazing and really illustrates his versatility as an actor. I know he won awards for other roles, but I heard his performance in Chicago was outstanding.

He was great on L&O. I didnt even know he was sick. I knew he left L&O at the end of last season and NBC had been making some noises about him getting his own L&O show. Damn.

this seriously sucks - i really loved him as 'lenny' - he's prolly the only actor i'd feel a real loss about dying...

NBC had already begun filming "Law and Order...Crime and Punishment." (I think that's the name)

As I understand it, he will appear in the new series in a diminished role until they use the stuff that was already shot.

Watching the update on ET.

I didn't know he was the voice of the candle thing on Beauty and the Beast. And I just saw Dirty Dancing this past weekend. The news makes me sad.

The biggest problem with prostate (and testicular) cancer is that most men don't get tested as often as they should. The husband of a friend was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 7 months ago; his doctor says that he had had it for almost 10 years.

We need to step up the testing for male cancer the way that women are pushing mammograms and such.

Poor Jerry - he is REALLY going to missed!
