An absolute shock!
|
My husband told me this morning and my first reponse was "Shut up and stop lying!" This is too sad. He was one hell of a guy!
|
How terribly sad, especially during the Holiday Season. My prayers are with his family.

Very sad stuff. Many folks aren't aware of this, but the average life expectancy for a former NFL player is only 55 or so. This is one of the reasons why retired players can begin taking their pensions when they hit 45.
There is a steep price to pay for extreme physical pounding on your body, along with being so large, which turns to a tremendous liability if you don't lose the weight. Apparently he suffered from sleep apnea, which is common among those who are large or overweight. What a good man he was, and how sad for his children and his wife. :( |
Absolutely unreal - there's talk that it was due to sleep apnea (a very scary condition if it goes untreated).
Completely a shock, my prayers go out to his friends and family. I remember watching him as one of the most dominant defensive players ever. Crazy to think that he has now passed on. |
How sad indeed. Not to mention how great he was off the field as well with all the work he with his youth ministry. :(

:( How sad - he was a good man.

how sad...... :(

Sending prays out to his family and friends.:(

R. White's Death Might Have Had Several Factors
Preliminary Report Says NFL Legend Died From Lung Ailment By PAUL NOWELL, AP Sports NFL great Reggie White may have died because of a respiratory disease combined with other health problems, a preliminary autopsy report said Monday. White most likely had a condition that affected the amount of air his lungs could hold, resulting in "fatal cardiac arrhythmia," said Dr. Mike Sullivan, the medical examiner for Mecklenburg County and a forensic pathologist. The report issued by Sullivan's office also said sleep apnea may have been a factor. The report is a preliminary one; determining a final cause of death could take up to three months, Sullivan's office said. White died Sunday at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville after being taken there from his home in nearby Cornelius. His wife, Sara, called 911. White had the disease, known as sarcoidosis, for several years, family spokesman Keith Johnson said Sunday. He described it as a respiratory ailment that affected his sleep. |
Ah yes, Reggie White. Very interesting social-conservative character. At least he and his wife wont be urging Americans to support discrimination anymore.
