Need Help Planning a Formal
hey i go to school at the university of montevallo, near Birmingham, AL and i'm trying to put together a formal in new orleans for this spring. was wondering if any of you had went to formals down there and what were some possible places to hold them. im looking for something on bourbon street, possibly renting out a bar or something as well as staying in some hotel.
any help would be great, i was also considering memphis |
MEMPHIS
I go to school in Memphis and we recently had a semi-formal on Mud Island. I'm soon to be installed as Assistant Social Chair, so as of yet I don't have any useful information other than it was in our small budget so it should be plenty plausible.

WOW
Those both sound like such fun!
I'm from Memphis too! Hey yeokr, I go to CBU... I assume you're at Memphis? GO TIGERS (and BUCS)!!! Sad loss last night... Anyways, Mud Island (just outside of Memphis... it's an island in the River) seems like it would be a really fun place. This is probably a dumb question, but where on Mud Island? I've never been there except for concerts. Good luck DC guy, and if you decide on Memphis, let us know. I'm sure there are lots of Memphis GCers who can give random bits of advice. :) Peace and Tau Love, Marly |

I actually go to Rhodes, so.. neighbors? I don't really know. I wasn't even aware that we went across a bridge that night. The next day someone just told me that it was on Mud Island. I'm not sure what it's called.. it had a pretty good dance floor though and a great back porch/veranda thing. There was also access to the riverbank to go take walks.. which I saw someone do, I think. It's not the clearest of nights for me!

Hey Montevallo, you're not that far from me... I go to Jacksonville State :)
How about a riverboat formal in New Orleans? I know there's a river on the french quarter, practically right behind bourbon street. I don't know what the city's policies are on that kind of stuff, but I'm sure if you maybe got in contact with the city of New Orleans (?) or maybe a local chamber of commerce/tourism bureau, you could find out more. Just an idea ;) Hope it all comes together like you want it to! |
Howdyho neighborino!

I've been on the riverboat dances for Christian Brothers High School's prom. They are really fun! It gets very hot downstairs, but it's still fun - the band was downstairs (inside), and the top of the boat is open air (fun!). |
