I think this will be one of the movies where I don't get any sleep for days because I'm too scared to go to sleep...but I still want to see it!

hottytoddy 12-20-2004 11:23 PM

It'll be one of those movies where if the cable goes out I'll be sooo scared that I'll turn the TV off. Or when you're driving and the radio station isn't picking up anymore you'll change the station--and start hearing things....

tinydancer 12-28-2004 01:07 PM

It sounds like the kind of things I have nightmares about!

Schmeer 12-28-2004 04:38 PM

definitely not a movie I'll be watching 1) in the dark, or 2) alone

I just got back from seeing this. Now, I am usually big chicken when it comes to movies that are supposed to be scary (I mean "The Grudge" left me unable to get a good night's sleep for 2 weeks!), but this one did not scare me at all. It had the potential to be scary and to be kinda good, but it just didn't deliver. At the end I was like, "That's it?" As people were leaving the theatre, I heard several comments like, "That movie sucked" and "I can't believe I wasted $9 on this!"

My $.02... Wait till it comes out on DVD, or better yet don't see it at all.

Rotten tomatoes has it at 10%, with 81 bad reviews and 9 good ones......

CONSENSUS (www.rottentomatoes.com):
While there are some built-in scares, the movie is muddled and unsatisfying.

C- "In lieu of satisfying answers, we get crude gee-whizzikers scares, cribbed from the horror canon."
-- Scott Brown, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

1.5/5 "White Noise begins as an overlit paean to trophy-wifedom and 'lifestyle' living, then practically gets down on its knees and begs to be called 'a stylish thriller.'"
-- Carina Chocano, LOS ANGELES TIMES

"White Noise pretty much describes the content of this lackluster, scare-free story."
-- Claudia Puig, USA TODAY

"Although director Geoffrey Sax gives White Noise its share of suspense, he's hampered by Niall Johnson's script, which is often confusing, muddy and ultimately cliche-ridden."
-- Desson Thomson, WASHINGTON POST

D+ "About as much fun as watching static on TV."
-- Tom Long, DETROIT NEWS

I've heard awful reviews for it as well; the last few movies Michael Keaton has made have been mediocre (Jack Frost anyone?).

Yeah, just got back from seeing this, and all I have to say is "ummm...what?"

Ok, I have more to say...it was creepy enough, but it was so muddled. I really dont know what happened, it was just a bunch of scary things that they pretended went together but then didnt...

I dunno, can anyone attempt an explanation??

SSS1365 01-09-2005 12:17 PM

The explanation is that the writer didn't know where to go with the plot, so he just made up a bunch of stupid isht that didn't make any sense. And the "scary" parts weren't even that scary. If you've seen the trailer, you've seen all there is to see.

This movie unfortunately probably made a lot of money this weekend, but after everyone hears how horrible it is, people aren't going to be rushing out to see it in the coming weeks. This movie was by far the biggest cinematic disappointment I have experienced in a long time.

I just got back from seeing this movie. It's like "The Ring" only much less scary. I'll admit some parts made me jump a little and had me a little anxious, but not scared.

I just found that they didn't explain somethings, that I personally thought they should have. Maybe they did this to keep it open for a sequel. Who knows? It just left with a lot of unanswered questions.

the movie was #2 in box office with $24 mil. chances are it will drop quite a bit next weekend.

i do not want to see this movie, cause i have never liked michael keaton as an actor. although when i saw him on David Letterman earlier this week, i thought he was very funny

I hope not! I doubt anybody would go to see a sequel (myself included).

IrishPhiSig 01-16-2005 06:19 AM

i think my boyfriend and i are the only people it scared. ha...he yelled so effing loud during one of the scenes...it made me laugh. But really, i was quite nervous and wary of my tv after seeing it.

DolphinChicaDDD 01-16-2005 10:37 AM
