Paddle Question
One of my former housemates started pledging a sorority on campus and left due to many complications. The sorority asked her to give all of the stuff that they gave her such as letters, formal favor, bid day shirt and gifts, etc. The girl gave all of the stuff back. She moved out of our house yesterday. Today we discovered a few "gifts" shall we say that she left to the house including an empty wine bottle, a half used thing of mouthwash, a wastebasket, some beanie babies, and the paddle that she made for her big sister but never got to give her because she wasn't initiated. We all really didn't like the girl and she caused a lot of problems in the house so we're not going to speak to her any more now that she's not living with us. Our question is what exactly are we supposed to do with the paddle because it does have the sorority's letters on it?

Who made the paddle?
|
The girl made the paddle for her big but didn't give it to her because she dropped.

Why don't you just contact the sorority, explain the situation, and see what they want you to do? They will probably just want to have the paddle back.

O goodness, I didn't read that very carefully. Sorry about that.
I would give the paddle to the big sister. |
What gets me the most is this recent talk about paddles.
Every other thread on GC these days is about my paddle, your paddle, his paddle, yo mama's paddle, your brother's trampy ex GF's paddle AND her grand little's paddle. WTF is up with the paddles? |
Since Teeny loves paddles - a random sidenote
Hehe, the other day a friend of mine saw the paddle that I am working on for my big sis. He said, "I knew it! Sororities are all about paddling and pillow fights!"

<3my paddle
I absolutely love my paddle, given to me by my little sister Rayna on her Initiation Day. It's so nice, she put so much work into it and I just love the purple "Big Sis Karen" across the top!! And of course, this paddle was never used for anything except being displayed proudly on my bedroom wall.
Fraternity and sorority paddles are just memorabilia now, at least for those chapters who are following the rules, which is all of the sororities on my campus. Its a way for the little to show appreciation to her big with this token...after all, we did spend about $200 on gifts for them on their Big/Lil night! (which I did very happily, I'm not complaining! I started my "little fund" the summer before she pledged!!) |
Awww :) How sweet!
Yay for little sisters! |
