Deep-fried Mars bars--a popular snack in Scotland
|
Oh yuck!!!!!!!!!
|
Disgusting but True
Yes, Deep Fried Mars Bars are a delicacy here. I've never had one, they sound really gross to me. Besides, the oil they fry it in isn't vegetarian-friendly. We have a chip shop in St. Andrews, the KFB, that will deep fry anything. And I mean anything. Last year for Raisin Sunday, some poor first year had to ask them to deep fry a sock. :p
They also have other strange culinary creations including a chocolate pizza. Think pizza dough, cheese and your choice of chocolate on top (snickers, mars bar, toblerone, etc.). Haven't tried that one either. I like my arteries nice and clean. :D ~ShyViolet |
Mars bars are freakin' good.

Why does this surprise you? Haggis is the National delicacy!!
I may be part Scots, but the very thought of eating haggis grosses me out! |
I dunno what I think about deep-fried Mars bars, but at our semif formal this semester they served fried Oreos, and I thought they sounded gross but apparently they tasted really good. I was too drunk to try them for myself though.

From a Celtic Studies student with a focus on Scotland:
"I have a theory that many articles of Scottish cuisine were based on a drunken dare..." |
LOL! That theory sounds about right... As the majority of chip shops in town get a lot of business after the pubs close. :)

Actually Haggis isn't that bad. Tastes just like a stuffing. |
