Christmas Songs you Misheard

We had a thread a while back about songs you misheard the lyrics to. What about Christmas songs?

My sister thought for years that "Frosty" went, "Frosty the Snowman was as blind as he could be" (supposed to be 'alive as he could be').

One of my sons was convinced that the refrain of "Up on the Housetop" was,

HO HO HO! TWO LITTLE GHOSTS!

Mixed his holidays, I guess.

I remember watching Sesame Street Christmas when I was little and being horrified when Ernie sang "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." I thought he was saying, "Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days, UP YOURS." Oops :) I still sing it that way instead of "...of yore."

My roommate was streaming Christmas songs from some radio station in SE Asia and one of the songs actually went "I saw mommy licking Santa's balls"
We both did a double take at that.

I didn't mishear it, but when I was little and heard that creepy Good King Wenceslas song, I was horrified at line about looking out on the feast of Stephen. Why were they eating Stephen?!

Rudolph the snot-nosed reindeer
Had a very runny nose
And if you ever saw him
You could even say he blows!

:D

When I was very young, I was taken to a Christmas Concert, where I heard a song that was absolutely beautiful, but at the same time, I thought the words were awful! The song was Angels We Have Heard On High and I thought they were singing (in the chorus), "O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oreo! Jesus loves me best!" instead of "Gloria! In excel sis deo!"

We still refer to that song as "The Oreo Song" in our family!

this is really bizarre, but you know that scene in Home Alone when Kevin uses all the mannequins and stuff to pretend like there are people home? Well, during that scene, they are playing "Rockin around the Xmas Tree" and since this was the first time I heard that song, the part where she goes, "Voices singin let's be jolly, deck the halls with boughs of holly" - well, as a kid, i thought it was "BUZZ is singing let's be jolly," since Buzz McAllister was a main character in the movie. Listen to it - you'll hear it too!

Good King Wence's car backed out on a piece of Steven.

Classic!

I misheard the Spanish Version of Silent Night when I was a toddler. Instead of "the star of peace is shining", what I misheard was "the star of the sea is shining". For those of you Spanophiles, the right lyrics are "brilla la estrella de paz", but I misheard them as "brilla la estrella del mar".

And in "What a wonderful child". I misheard "how lowly, meek, and mild" as "the lonely Mickey Mouse". I was 21 or 22 and quickly realized what I heard could not possibly be the right lyrics.

When I was about three, I apparently came home from daycare and proceeded to sing 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Stranger' for my parents.

I'm twenty and still haven't heard the end of that one.

i can't remember the site off the top of my head, but i know there's a website out there with a pretty good listing of mondegreens, some of which include christmas songs.

This was an earlier thread about misheard lyrics and I don't have time to check it now but I think it mentioned the mondegreen site.
