Houston Alum Chapter
 

So I finally got a list of Alum in the Houston area from nationals. there are like 86 or something! including 2 from my own chapter!! So a few of the alum I know here that have been working with the chapter here are getting together for dinner next Monday to discuss strategy to get the Houston chapter moving again! I have so many great ideas for social and philanthropy events I can't wait. I think we'll start by sending out Christmas cards to them all, just letting them know we're here. Maybe instead of having a "meeting" we'll do a meet and greet kind of thing, just to get everyone out. Esp. the ones who have ben out of school for awhile, might not be thrilled about coming to a "chapter meeting" but might come out for a social. I can't wait!! If anyone has any ideas let me know!!

That is so exciting there are so many women in your area. Good luck with it!! I totally love the idea of a meet and greet, nice and easy way to get them back into it all!

just wanting to know how the meet and greet went?! i would have loved to attend but not so sure if i'm moving back to houston or not. maybe one day. umm...what school does AST have a chapter in Houston or are you starting an Alum Chapter? Kind of confused. Alrighty, talk to you soon. You are still coming down to San Antonio for our formal recruitment correct??

Hi! yeah I PMd you about the y'alls recruitment schedule. let me know and I'll be there!! There is technically an alumnae chapter here in Houston and has been for quite sometime, but they haven't really done anything lately. There are 89 alumnae here in good standing, so there is really no excuse for the lack of alum activity. We want all this expansion in Texas, we need to have a strong and active alumnae base in the area! So I'm working on it. I tried to meet up with 2 other women I've been able to contact to stratigize, but with the holiday's and all it fell through. All I've done so far is send out christmas post cards to everyone on the list saying Happy Holidays and letting them know to watch the mail for up[coming events in Jan anf Feb. just to kinda let them know we're here. And only 1 was returned as undeliverable, so that was cool! Let me know about the Rush schedule ASAP. thanks!!

You're right...start out with easy, social stuff to get people reconnected. Actually, most alumnae chapter meetings are more social than anything else...you have to do a little business (depending on how structured or how busy your chapter is involved with stuff), then you have some sort of social or philanthropy program and have fun!!
