Okay, let Sister Honey tell you about a final she once took.

The class was one of those obscure electives, taught by a mumbling professor, with the mid-term equaling 10% of the grade, and the final the other 90%. I had an A on the mid-term and was feeling pretty good about the material.

So, we all show up for the final, having read the course book backwards & forwards, and studying together over the little notes we had. The test booklet was passed out, and the professor wrote two questions on the board. We picked up our pencils expectantly, then our collective jaws dropped when reading the questions.

I can honestly say that I have blocked from my memory exactly what he wrote, but suffice it to say that neither question was even remotely related to the course in question.

There is a limit to how much one can write about nothing (Seinfeld included). I was drawing from centuries of pure blarney when, ten minutes into the test, the woman sitting behind me started to sniffle. Then, puddle up. Then, sob quietly. Then, cry slightly less than Rachel cried for her lost child. After 20 minutes, she had the good grace to turn in her booklet and leave.

The rest of us still tried. Honestly, we tried. I finally gave up, turned in my test book and there, outside the room, a support group was forming. The crier was in the middle, seated on a bench, with two separate people holding her and patting her. The rest of us just asked, "Was any of that even discussed, let alone in the text?" We waited, like a lynch mob, for the last victim to give up and for the professor to leave.

He looked at our searching eyes (most red, if not teary), shook his head, and practically ran to his office. The lynch mob each wrote a note to him, stating that he or she thought that the test was unfair, and not covered by the class nor the reading material, and sent a copy to the head of the department. The next day, the grades were posted: the final was thrown out, and our grade was based on the midterm!

So, why did I take the time to tell y'all this? Because sometimes, through no fault of your own, you will be screwed by a final. Sometimes, you can do something about it. Other times, you can't. But the moral is, NOTHING will happen if you don't try.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Oh wow...what a story! I hope nothing like that ever happens to me.

I am already done with three finals (English 200, US Congress, and Understanding the Bible) but I have my worst one to go...Logic and Critical Thinking on Friday:( Plus I'm stuck here until the building closes due to my job

Good luck to everyone finishing up on finals!
