my UCF sorority question

well, hey everyone. i am a first year at the University of Central Florida. i have a betta fish named sebastian and whoever said orange was the new pink is seriously disturbed. (just a little legally blonde love for you)

but on a serious note...
unfortunately, i missed fall rush. i was undecided about joining greeks and now i really want to do so, even though im a little late! so the question is do you think i should rush in the spring with only 3 or so sororities involved, or wait until next fall with practically all of them?

i dont know that many greeks here so i need you guys to help me out...and add whatever other info u want. if you know specifically which sororities are going to rush that would be good to know also :)

thanks and happy holidays :)

P.S. whats with this whole naming sororities other things and all? is it just to keep everyone in suspense as to which one they pick or is there a serious reason? just wanting to know so i dont make a mistake in future posts about my recruitment story!!

Well, why not go through in spring, and see if you enjoy those three sororities? There is of course the possibility that you will fall in love with one of those three and then BAM bid time. But if you go through and find out 1) none of these three houses are "you" 2) you don't really have time for sorority stuff 3) some other unforseen speedbumb, you can always rush again in fall. Seems like a win/win for me. If you know exactly what 3 houses are rushing in spring, try to put extra effort into noticing what their members do in the months leading up to rush, and use that information to inform your opinion.

It's so no one gets offended over what you might have to say. Even if you are being nice and polite, some people get upset if you are honest about what sororities you like and don't like. Plus you never know who is reading this. So it's best to name them after random things like candy or Brad Pitt movies.

Except naming a group "12 Monkeys" might not go over so well ;)

I would check out the 3 groups involved in Spring COB and see if you're interested. If not, you can still go through recruitment this Fall. The sororities at UCF usually don't have a limit on the amount of Sophomores they can take so you should be ok if you decide to go through in the Fall. Also, AEPhi will be colonizing in the Spring so if you're interested in building a new chapter, check them out!

I would so be the president of 12 Monkeys.

dear curlyhead01
of course, you try it. you look at the colony coming. smile a bunch and see what happens.
if things are terrific, then, there you are. if not, you'll have a whole better feel to the whole thing.

Agreed! Discretion is the key!

IMHO - I think you should try out COR and see what the sororities are like. You have nothing to lose, and no obligation to join a sorority if there is not a "fit" on either end. Even if you end up not joining one of these 3 houses, at least you'll have a little "practice" on the whole recruitment process (as far as types of conversations & stuff) to gear you up for fall! And if you do end up finding a match, that's great too!
