Another Reason Iowa State Sux

"hey- you know those lance armstrong bracelets?" "yeah- everyone's got one" "let's rip off the idea and make them to support the cyclones" "cancer, cyclones- close enough!" fucktards. |
Big deal ISU has a red one to "copy" the yellow on Lance
wore..using your position...they both sux! So wearing a bracelet to support something is a new idea??? THINK he could have STOLEN the idea from the MIA/POW bracelets worn in the Vietnam Era??? Mine was silver (not yellow or red) and it accomplished the same thing...keeping a cause in the public eye! |
I don't know, but it seems a little tacky to me. Supporting a cause and supporting a team are two different things. I wouldn't be bothered if they came out with pink wristbands for breast cancer or red ones for AIDS or anything like that, but it just seems somehow wrong to use the idea for a sports team.

I totally agree. I think it's fine if you're copying the idea so you can create something that will raise money for a worthy cause, but I don't really think that supporting a sports team is on the same level as cancer. |
For the love of Pete, Joel, do you like anything about Iowa State? Why are you even there when all you can do is bitch about it. All the time. Super PR there, buddy.
Guess what, for the low-low price of $1000k, you can have your own colored, branded silicone bracelet with whatever you want. Of course, you'll have over a thousand of them, but hey! It's a free market and not a unique idea. Nike Baller ID bracelets are the same exact thing. I've seen "All In" in reference to Poker and "Support our Troops" ones. I have a feeling the bracelets were around way before they were used in connection with Lance Armstrong and Livestrong, that's just what people associate with them now. And Iowa State may feel some affinity with the idea as it was an ISU alumnus who came up with the "LiveStrong" motto. It says so here. And the ones Iowa State is doing, they're handing out for free so it's not like the school is making money off them. It's just another way to show support, like a t-shirt or a pom pom or a temporary tattoo. Big whoop. |
Haha, wow, I've heard of people disliking their schools, but you take it to a whole other level sometimes.
The timing of the promotion isn't in the best taste, but I think that you'll see things like this more and more with the popularity of the "Live Strong" bands. |

It could be worse...
I recently went to a conference and one of the vendors was giving away bracelets in its company color with the company name on them. How convenient, all the attendees could give them free advertising!
|
nah, iowa state sucks b/c they lost to UNI by 18 (and were down 30 most of the 2nd half) . . .
. . . on the other hand, the wristbands aren't a big deal. guys, there's much more to the 'live strong' campaign than the bands, it's not like they're saying "ISU over cancer!" and it's not like ISU isn't a research university. Lighten the f- up dudes. And jesus, I'm a lifelong hawk fan, and i think ISUphipsi cares for ISU less than i do . . . surreal |

Seriously, dude, most people like their schools, otherwise might as well transfer to the school you like. |
