Giambi admits to using steroids

First Sheff's half-admission, now Giambi's full admission. I can't say I'm surprised that he used them, but it's still a shock to see him say it.

The house of cards continues to fall.

I bet the Yankees will try to use this as an excuse to try to get out of that horrible contract.

What are the punishments required by MLB for steroid use?

Personally I think the punishments should be very harsh. He should be kicked out of the game and maybe even lose any awards/honors he received while using steroids. I feel if they go lightly on this it will make players feel they have to use drugs that could damage their health to compete.

MLB has said in the past they will not punish for former use only if they currently test posstive.

Does this surprise anyone?
What percentage of MLB player would one estimate to be on steroids?

The MLB isn't what you call 'tough' on doping.

I believe, and I may be mistaken, but that it's more of a "Three strikes and you're punished" philosophy. It would depend on how many times he's tested positive. With the collective bargaining agreement, it can't even be made public until the 3rd offense (although I could be wrong about that as well).

Either way, I don't see any suspensions coming out of this.

Apparently it's also being said the when Bonds was questioned by the grand jury, he kept saying that he never Knowingly used steroids.
It's a sad day for baseball indeed. I'm not surprised but I'm naive & expect more of professional athletes.
