Iota's only non-sued NPHC?
There is a claim in the Hilltop online (Howard U.'s student newspaper) (http://www.thehilltoponline.com/news/813966.html ) by an Iota that Iota Phi Theta is the only member of the NPHC that has not been sued for Hazing.
While I could believe that it was the only *Fraternity* member of the NPHC not to be sued for Hazing (I personally can remember suits for the Alphas, Omegas and Kappas), I find the idea that all of the Sororities in the NPHC have been sued sort of surprising given the reaction to the deaths of the Pledges of the underground chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha in Los Angeles this past year. So, does anyone have any information on 1) Have the Iotas never been sued for hazing? 2) Have all of the other eight members of the NPHC been sued for hazing? Thank You Randolph Finder |
I have no idea, but might suggest you post this in Greek Life as well as here. I think more people read that forum on a regular basis.
Interesting question. |
When I had heard that statistic, from an NPHC member, it was AKA and Iota that had not been sued for hazing or other risk-management issues.
So, yeah...I guess it is just Iota now. |
When I was an undergrad, the Sigma Gamma Rho members on my yard frequently commented that the sorority had never been a defendant in a hazing suit. I have been out of school 10 years, so this may have changed.
