Black Family Channel Starts 8 New Shows 38 minutes ago By LYNN ELBER, AP Television Writer LOS ANGELES - Robert Townsend first caught the film industry's eye with 1987's "Hollywood Shuffle," a clever satire about black actors trapped in demeaning roles. Now he wants the country to pay attention to what he calls a new kind of television, entertaining but with a sense of responsibility, especially toward young black Americans. |

the few times I watched, the channel was fairly decent. I think they used to broadcast some of the HBCU games that BET didn't carry.
|
They did.
Maybe Cathy Hughes should think about acquiring the network. TVOne is on the ball! :D |
Also, a lot of HBCU games are now shown on ESPNU (the only reason we got it at my parent's house). And TVOne blowing up as they did hasn't help either. I don't think we ever got that channel.

With an acquisition, maybe TVOne could turn that channel into something educational related and/or foucused on politics, entertainment and news.

TV One is really on the come up. i'm not against competition, but what is BFC bringing to the table that TV One isn't? Shoot, even BET Jazz plays Soul Food reruns.
If they go away i will kinda miss Black Family Channel, but in 2007 they're not really filling any niche that isn't being tapped by other networks. |

If BFC does return online, I hope they drop that wack game show "Thou$and Dollar Bee". That mess was, hands down, THE WORST game show I have ever seen, and I have seen some really bad game shows, but this was horrible.
