My Friend Asked Me A Question......

My friend is about to pledge a sorority but she is not sure if that one is for her. I told her to wait until she is sure, but she feels that because she respects (and really wants it) the org that that is enough to join even though she is thinking about the other one also. I told her I guess the reasons and feelings for joining are different for different people. Is respect enough of a reason to join?

Sistergreeks of Zeta, pardon my intrusion, but I thought I could throw in my .08 cents' worth. . .

I have a co-worker that is not a spring chicken that used to be in a similar situation just a couple of months ago. Long story short (without going into too much detail) she wants 1 Sorority - has said that it is her FIRST choice, but is willing to go with Sorority "B". In other words, I think she's feeling like your friend - just wants some greek letters on a shirt, no matter what they are.

Now my take is if you've been out of college for some time, you should know what you want to do. I'm guessing that your friend is still in college, and I can understand her dilemma somewhat (especially if she wasn't familiar with Sororities prior to going to college) but respect isn't enough of a reason to join.

I respect what our Sororities of AKA, DST, Z Phi B, and SGRho are doing, but I could never be a member of all of them (it's not in my signature, but I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha  ). She needs to find out what appeals to her about these organizations and pick one. If it's one that belongs to the D9, once she's in, there's no turning back. . .

Thanks! I agree. It's funny how people don't use common sense. If you aren't sure about something DON'T do it!
