I'm a big fan of George Carlin and Dave Chapelle.

Eddie Murphy "Raw" is the best show that comes to mind.

I like Mitch Hedberg, too. I adore Margaret Cho!!!

Yeah I'm wondering why is that...because there are funny females in real life, not as many as males. But they do exist. Even Carol Burnett falls short compared to male comedians.

I really don't know why there aren't so many female comedians. Off the top of my head I think that Roseanne Barr, Carol Burnett, Whoopi Goldberg, Lily Tomlin, Gilda Radner, Rita Rudner, Carol Leifer, Ellen DeGeneres, Elaine Boosler, and Paula Poundstone were funny when they did stand up. Margaret Cho and Janeane Garofalo are probably the most famous female stand up comedians working right now. Of all of them, I think that Lily Tomlin, Roseanne, and Whoopi Goldberg are the best.

Mike Nichols and Elaine May were a very funny comedy team. I have only seen them a few times on PBS, but they were pretty innovative for the time.

I really like Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, and Billy Crystal.

I don't know why, but there are just not that many funny female comedians. Margeret Cho, for example, really isn't funny. Its just politically correct to like her because of her politics (like Janeane Garofalo.)

Whoopi Goldberg was innovative, and extremely funny. If she stuck with it, she would have been in the top echelon of comedians. Way back when, Lily Tomlin had it going on, and so did Carol Burnett and Gilda Radner. Now, Wanda Sykes might develop into a great comedian.

Ellen DeGeneres is not laugh-so-much-that-it-hurts funny, but she is talented, and has a razor sharp mind.

In general, female comedians don't take the risks that male comedians do. Too many female comedians just talk about men and shopping. That gets boring. Very boring.
