Tips for Neos

Dear Sorors,

I don't know if most of you know, but the Iota Theta Chapter is full of Neos due to the two Deltas from `98 graduating.

I will be serving as Chapter Secretary for the fall semester. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me as secretary or as for our chapter as a whole.

If there are any officers present, can you please tell me some of your experiences?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, sisterfirend, I'm not a soror (as if the name didn't tel it)

But when I came in...we basically were the chapter because everyone had graduated...so I feel your fear http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

My only advice to you is to talk to the prophytes and find out everything.....things as small as who is in charge of going to get the stamps to mail the newsletters? will soon become a major event.

And make sure you talk to last years secretary and find out if you could get a copy of the way she did the nots or any other paper work she had...so you will know how the protocal of the chapter goes.

Good look....I'm sure your sorors here on GC and in your region will all help you

Its like that for us too. Allo of our prophytes graduated with the exception of one. Blutheatrics is right talk to your prophytes. That is what we had to do. Plus we have our advisor and the alumnae chapter is around to help us out alot. We are lucky too because our prophytes that graduated are staying in the area. good luck soror!

Hello soror,
I am at LSU now, but I crossed at another university in MS. Anything you have questions about just e-mail me so we can talk.

Hey LS!!!

This is your #18 comin' through...We do have LOTS of stuff to take care of, but I know we will make it. All of our elected officers are qualified for the job, and I think we are going to have good help coming from other sorors. So....I can't wait! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
Oh....and did you get my email yesterday???

Delta_Girl1913, Welcome to LSU soror..Are you undergrad or grad??

Still undergrad unfortunately. But I am suppose to graduate in August.

Hey Soror, that's actually funny that you should be in that situation.. My situation is that I am the only active member in my chapter.. Two just graduated and the other two are inactive, and one of them in graduating in December. And I just crossed! So I'm the same situation.. I'm going to be the President and the Treasurer and the Secretary, everything. Needless to say, it's a lot of responsibility. But I think it's a good opportunity for me to step up to the plate and be a leader.. But I know it ain't gonna be easy. But like I have always heard, pledging started AFTER you cross.

I am assuming that you are the only person that crossed?

Good Luck, they chose you for a reason so I am sure that you will do fine.

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far!

I have been talking with one of my Big Sisters now Soror because she assumed the role of vice-president and secretary.

I plan on attending the conference in August...and I am registering for the officer training.

Things do not actually start rolling until the fall, but being the person that I am, I want to start early (I'm very anxious also). And since I'm doing the website...I want to organize everything and make sure that I meet all of my obligations as best as possible and beyond.

I have already been collecting ideas from my line sisters for programs so that I can submit them to the President so that there will be an agenda ready for our retreat and first official meeting of the fall.

I'm going to get in touch with our advisor tomorrow.

I think everything is just so overwhelming because the last line before 2001 was in 1998. Everyone is gone, and in 1999 and 2000...nothing was really done to some problems.

But I have faith that Iota Theta will pull through and rise as a great chapter.

I would also like to welcome Delta_Girl1913 to LSU! I hope that we can meet. And I would really like it if you can attend some things that we might have during the summer.

Hey girl! Sorry, I didn't get a chance to e-mail you back. I have mainly been online turning in my assignments. I'll probably call you today or tomorrow to see how things are going. It was great seeing you Tuesday!

If you attend your regional conference, the Leadership Academy is sholding classes for all officer positions.

Your advisor should be able to give you more info about this... and each region's tentative agenda is available on the national website.
