Although i am not a member of her chapter, i knew her and many of her sisters...
it has been a long hard week thus far, but they will not be forgotten. |
This came across the listserv for alum. According to the article in the Miamai Hearld, the carbon monoxide poisioning was as a result of a poorly maintained exhaust system in the vehicle that they were in. Please if you are driving an older vehicle make sure you exhaust system is okay.
Carolyn I am very sad to report that Delta Kappa (Florida International University) collegian Janelle Bertot was killed on Saturday evening of carbon monoxide poisoning. She was with the President of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, who was also killed. Please keep Janelle's family and friends as well as our sisters at FIU in your thoughts. Condolences can be sent to the Delta Kappa Chapter at Phi Sigma Sigma Unit #28 PO Box 654607 Miami, FL 33265 Below is another message, this one from the Director of Alumnae Ladies, Please join me in sending condolences to the Delta Kappa chapter on the loss of sister Janelle Bertot. Unfortunately, many of us have had experience in dealing with the loss of a sister, either within our collegiate chapters, or within a chapter we advised, or within our alumnae circles. I'm sure those of us who have been in any of those situations remember the outpouring of love and support from our fellow sisters, and how it shone like a beacon through the darkness, letting us know that we would not be alone on our journeys out of sadness. Even if you have not had that experience, your words of condolence and sympathy will help to ease the way for these collegians. We can't make this tragedy disappear, but we can do our utmost to support the chapter through this time. Whatever support we can offer the chapter, whether that be in the form of flowers, cards, or prayers, is sure to be appreciated. Please forward this information to your individual groups. Thank you. Fraternally, Amy |
