Ever so often I'll post a basic description on a Canadian military unit... and will be more than happy to field questions about them... I guess I'll begin with the Infantry regiments... |

Well that's it for the "Regiments of the Line" or Regular regiments...
There was a fourth regiment, The Royal Canadian Airborne Regiment... but it was disbanded after members disgraced themselves and hence the regiment... now there are airborne companies in each of the "line" regiments. |
First off Brother Cooper, I find this interesting information.
When visiting London and seeing and reading some of the History of Military Units, I am thinking, Damn, this is before North American was even found. Second off, delete anything to do with Rudey. While this is not an Order, it is a Strong Request. That person is not worth it. Be a bigger person and a Brother! In ZAX, Got it!? Just be bigger as you are!:) Oh, Yes, remember, All Countrys have History Behind their Fighting Men and Women and The Patches and awards that they won in Battle for God and Country! Blood is Red, Dead is Dead. |
Guess I'll hafta post something for the Americans... seriously, Coop, keep up the good work - didn't know much until now about the Canadian military other than NORAD and the Snowbirds! :D

This is the unit I was stationed with in Germany way back when the Evil Empire was around 20 years ago.

Sorry about the lack of recent updates to this thread, but my primary source material was on loan to the University's Memorial Room for their research...

Hey I have a question...how can regiments have alliance? What if Canada ever goes to war with Nepal? I'm confused.

Hey Coop... don't forget to include No. 401 Squadron, RCAF - traces its lineage and battle honors to the Battle of Britain. :D

But seriously I'll cover the 401... afterall they have a cool moto: MORS CELERRIMA HOSTIBUS -or- "Very Swift Death to the Enemy" I'll get to the lineage of the Airforce - after I deal with first the Infantry and then the Armoured... Artillery can be done in one post (maybe two)... so after landforces I'll get to either the Airforce or the Navy. Optimist Prime - a Regimental alliance means that there is a close bond between the Regiments; either because of past service or similar roles/traditions... also there is very often a personnel exchange between the two, or joint training involving elements of both units, every couple of years. |
Okay here's four more units... you'll notice the Royal Regiment of Canada has more than the average number of mottoes, marches, and battle honours - that is because the are an amalgamated unit - traditions must be preserved...
