Fix election problems!

DISCLAIMER: This is not an anti-Bush thread, nor is it saying that Kerry should have won Ohio.

One would think that if we can put a man on the moon, do robotic surgeries, and map genomes, we could find a fool proof method of voting.

CNN Article

The Ohio glitch is among a handful of computer troubles that have emerged since Tuesday's elections. (Touchscreen voting troubles reported)

In one North Carolina county, more than 4,500 votes were lost because officials mistakenly believed a computer that stored ballots electronically could hold more data than it did. And in San Francisco, a malfunction with custom voting software could delay efforts to declare the winners of four races for county supervisor.

But would it make any differnce in numbers to even in the election?

My point isn't whether it would make a difference in this election. It simply seems to me that these problems shouldn't happen. It could make a difference in a local election or in a very close election. We should be able to get it right.

I agree with that. Its good that these problems are surfacing where elections are not being effected. I think that after Palm Beach County, in 2000, everyone wanted to improve the technical side of elections, and that there was too much of a rush to new technology. Hopefully these types of problems will fade away fast.
