Reality TV star Review

Obviously a lot of reality TV people do it to get noticed. And in the beginning a lot of industry people were kind of snobby about it saying it wasn't the way to go about doing it.

This is where we list the Reality TV people we know about that managed to take their experience and achieve some stardom or some other significant gain.

Did it pay off for anyone?

One person I can think of is Jacinda Barett. She went from Real World London to having an acting career (Ladder 49, Bridget Jones sequel).

Even though they had music careers, Nick and Jessica didn't take off until after Newlyweds. The show really helped them.

Elisabeth Filarski Hasselbeck.. from the second Survivor got a show about fashion after her Survivor stint and is now a co-host on The View. I'm not sure it was her goal when she went on Survivor... She didn't seem like the media hog type while on the island.

Tek from Real World Hawaii has made cameos in many movies, I know for sure in Van Wilder.

David from Real World San Francisco (the one with Tammy and Beth and he was kicked out of the house) I think made an appearance in a Kid n Play movie maybe? I know it was a comedy.

Hellloooo Eric Nies! From the original Real World, had The Grind workout show and tape.

The guy from Real World Chicago is now Philip on Days of our Lives (I think he's Philip...I don't watch it).

I was just about to write that. Eric Nies became very popular after The Real World.

Although I hate to say it, Trishelle has become popular but more so for her airheadedness and skankiness than anything else.

Evan Marriott did a KFC commercial.

Trista and Ryan are a famous couple.

Some notables I can think of are:

Kevin Powell -- from the first RW. I remember he was writing for VIBE at one point, and since then he's been hailed as a poet, journalist and essayist.

Sean from RW Boston -- I know he's the District Attorney of his city and was thinking about making a run for Congress.

Kit from the first RR season. She was an entertainment correspondent for a bunch of shows. Now she's on ESPN2's Cold Pizza.

And who could forget Melissa from RW New Orleans? I love Girls Behaving Badly!

Not only that, but Troy from The Apprentice (1st season) - Pinnacle Financial Group (I see those commercials all the time, and billboards ALL over San Diego County!)

Sure why not? Playboy is pretty exclusive, most of the girls that hate it, wouldn't get selected for it.

Hmm.... Jason from the first Apprentice was a judge in our Mr. Greek pageant. Helps that he's dating the sister of one of my Phi Mu sisters.
