Who becomes the new Minority/Majority Leader?

While i'm disappointed in Daschle's loss, mostly because of the clout he carried for the state of South Dakota, who takes over for him for the Dems?

Teddy K? Joe Lieberman? Hillary?

Depends on who the Democrats in the Senate vote on I guess. Most likely the guy or gal that would piss off the Republicans the most.

Reid of Nevada.

Harry Reid of Nevada by seniority, but Dodd of Connecticut lost to Daschle by one vote back in '94. Methinks Dodd's gonna get it.

Hillary is too junior a senator, Joe Lieberman and Teddy Kennedy are ranking members of Senate committees and are probably not interested.

What about the new senator from Illinois? Barack Obama, is that his name?

I realize that he and Hillary are both rather junior senators, but both have big name recognition. Obama to the point that they were flying him around the country to help the Kerry campaign when it was apparEnt that he would beat Keyes.

Not likely, considering he's a freshman senator. Maybe after a couple of terms under his belt. The Senate is very much club-like in its traditions and decorum, and they're not gonna let some young whippersnapper ride herd as minority leader.

Maybe it will be Senator Byrd so that the KKK can finally have one of their own in power.

Nahhh... he's too busy funneling pork-barrel projects into his beloved West-by-Gawd! :D He might make President pro tempore of the Senate by virtue of his seniority, but that's about it.
