Do Something for YOU
Ladies,
I'm encouraging you all to take some quiet, quality time out for YOU. Try at least once a week or if you're strapped for funds then every two weeks go do something special for yourself. If you don't take time out for you, you will begin to feel down and out and you won't understand why. 1. Go get a pedicure 2. Go to the mall and look for the makeup counters that give free make-overs 3. Go see a movie BY YOURSELF (I love doing this) 4. Take a bubble bath with scented candles (I know some of you live in dorms so you'll have to wait until you go home home for Thanksgiving. LOL) Other suggestions are welcomed. ------------------ Director #2 LMAC Spr 99 [This message has been edited by DirectorDST99 (edited September 04, 2000).] |
I agree wholeheartedly. I got my first pedicure this summer and it did wonders for me and my oh so pretty feet.
I love to take bubble baths with Jill Scott or Eric Benet or some nice slow jams playing. Going to the movies alone is great especially when you want to hear everything. Another one that I recommend is just lighting candles all around your house, turning the ringers off and readinga good book or watching a good movie or just taking a nap. |
Kudos to DirectorDST99 and CrimsonTide4...
for making such great suggestions!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I personally did these very things during this holiday weekend. I laid my head back in the tub and I listened to some Miles Davis and some Jill Scott (she is my girl!) I must say it did wonders!! Ladies, we must learn to relax and replenish ourselves on a regular basis if we are to keep up with the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. By the way, another suggestion: take time to enjoy the weather while it's still warm. If it's not too hot (as it certainly has been here in the midwest!) go for a quiet stroll through a park or quiet area. Take in some fresh air. ------------------ "Queens shouldn't swing...if you know what I mean.." |
My sistah, I must agree with you. Last weekened, I went to see a movie by myself for the first time. I had never dreamed of doing that before. At first it was kinda awkward. You know how you are doing previews with your friends, damn that looks good. Or, I don't wanna see that, that's not gonna be any good. So I had to get use to it. But once the movie started, I was having a great time. That week at work, I encouraged everyone to go do this. I'm saying all the time. I still love to go and see movies with my friends, but once in awhile is great. Especially those movies we want to see but our friends don't, so we wait until video release. NONSENSE. Go see a movie by yourself. I was encouraged to do this cause me and my girlfriend got in a fight that day. She didn't wanna go with me cause she mad at me. LOL. But it turned out to be all good.

And I thought I was just being selfish.. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
I call it "Jada Weekend" *lol*. I handle hair, nails, feet, and I usually buy a good book. It does WONDERS, but people still look at me sideways when I say "Oh, can't make it. It's Jada Weekend." |
With all of the fuss and stress over finals and everything else, I think it is important to bring this back to the top.
Good Luck to all, Be Blessed! Jesus loves you and so do I! |
