Theresa Heinz pays 12.4% in taxes

http://www.johnkerry.com/pdf/101504_thk_tax_filing.pdf

Theresa Heinz has only made 2 pages of a 1 billion dollar tax statement available to the public. That is beautiful.

Overall income of $5.07 million. That is just delicious how she was able to only declare $5.07 MM in income. But this isn't the best part.

$2.78 MM of the 5.07 was untaxed.

Of that $628,401 was taxed. This is not just beautiful, not just delicious, but for a woman of such magnificent wealth to achieve a 12.4% tax rate takes Houdini like magic to pull off.

From: http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/s...2004_0310.html

Kerry pledged, “I am going to ask America’s wealthiest people – those making over $200,000 a year – to pay the same fair share they paid under Bill Clinton.” That fair share amounts to a tax rate of almost 41 percent – or 350 percent the rate his wife felt compelled to pay.

Edwards: “[A] millionaire sitting by their swimming pool, collecting their statements to see how much money they're making, make their money from dividends, pays a lower tax rate than the men and women who are receiving paychecks for serving on the ground in Iraq.” So is Edwards talking about Theresa?

Theresa Heinz is the first spouse of a presidential or vice-presidential candidate not to release her full tax returns. The activities of the H. John Heinz III Foundation and the Teresa & H. John Heinz III Foundation, which she heads, remain concealed – including how they are funded and the groups they endow. Teresa Heinz Kerry has steered a great deal of her politically motivated “philanthropy” to “campaign finance reform” organizations – indeed, she sits on the Board of Trustees of the Brookings Institution.

There you have it. While some of you are busy acting as if Democrats are sooo much different and soooo much better, maybe it's time to realize how corruption is a buffet and politicians the people who dine well on it.

--Kerry wants to close tax loopholes? Over his wife's dead body.

If she paid 12.4% legally, good for her.

This demonstrates a weak point of leftist "tax the rich" demagoguery. You can't tax the super rich if they don't want to be taxed. They can move their money, hide it, or get favorable tax laws passed.

If it's legal, she can easily disclose it. But then of course, legality is not the only issue here.

Well, if she is disclosing it, I am sure it is legal. No one is going to pay more taxes than they have to, so the point is, she thinks she should be paying more. It's one thing to get up there and say you want to lower taxes for yourself, and it's another to say 'I think I should be forced to pay more.'

Actually, she's not disclosing what shelters are hiding her money. To make that low of an income would mean someone literally stole money from quite a few of her assets.

And again if you hadn't read what Kerry said (Edwards is there also:

The end point is mere conjecture, but the lasting image is the first: she did NOT release the full returns.

I hope to god her ass gets busted for tax evasion.

DeltAlum 11-02-2004 10:43 AM

See, Kerry has been right. She is obviously benefiting from Bush's tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

OK, let's see where that goes...

I pay about 12% in taxes and I of course don't make anything close to what Teresa makes:mad:
