Wedding Bells Ring For Jay DeMarcus
posted: 5/16/2004

NASHVILLE - (May 15, 2004)- Rascal Flatts member Jay DeMarcus married Allison Alderson this evening, Saturday, May 15 in Nashville, Tenn. The couple met on the video set of "These Days," a #1 hit for the group, in the summer of 2002. Alderson played the female lead in the clip.

Fellow Rascal Flatts band mate and cousin Gary LeVox stood in as Best Man and band mate Joe Don Rooney as a groomsman. There were 7 additional groomsmen, including Cledus T Judd, and 8 bridesmaids. During the ceremony Vince Gill performed "When Love Finds You," Jason Scheff (Chicago) sang "Will You Still Love Me," and "You're Still You" was performed by Michael English.

The bride's dress was a custom made gown by designer Reem Acra with a scooped neckline and beaded illusion sleeves, bodice and back. The skirt was an A-line with beaded train. Her tiara was taken from the Museum Collection from Kleinfeld's of Brooklyn, which was a replica of Princess Grace Kelly's wedding tiara. Alderson's shoes were custom jeweled Manolo Blanik's.

The groom wore a hand made black Italian wool & cashmere sateen tuxedo with Western detail. Silk satin twill trim accented the jacket and pant. The vest and traditional tie were tone on tone ivory silk to
complement the bride. The ensemble was designed and tailor-made by well- known Nashville designers Cindy McGill of "Imagine That" and her son Aaron McGill of "Kick Arse."

The bride's procession music was written by DeMarcus and was performed by a 14-piece orchestra conducted by Bill Baumgart.

The couple walked down the aisle as man and wife on a hand painted runner with a custom signature of the newlywed's intertwined champagne colored initials with Austrian crystals and was lightly dusted with glitter. The runner was designed by Susan Poore of Bridal Art Studio. "They lived happily ever after" was printed at the end of the runner.

LeVox sang "These Days" for the couple while they danced at the reception, which immediately followed the church wedding.

The couple will take a tropical honeymoon and DeMarcus will resume his schedule when the band performs their #1 hit "Mayberry" on the Academy of Country Music Awards, May 26.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Jay flew Allison to NYC and took her to dinner at the Tavern on the Green. After dinner, Jay and Allison went to the fire hydrant she was sitting on when she answered Jay's first phone call to her when she was in New York City with her mother and sister. Jay sat Allison down on the fire hydrant and got on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him! How romantic!

Awe, how sweet! I absolutely LOVE Rascal Flatts. They make a beautiful couple - I'm so happy for them.

Rascal Flatts will be performing here in Omaha this month. I wanted to go, but with the holidays approaching I'm unable to get off from work. My sister, on the other hand, has tickets and will probably call me from the concert to sing Mayberry or Melt to me!

::Sigh:: Joe's hot too!

So Rascal Flatts in playing here in Omaha TONIGHT! On my way home my sister called me from the concert...I couldn't hear a THING! I dunno what song they were singing but she was singing along.
Then an hour later my coworker, Wendy, called. I had told her to call me when "I Melt" came on. I could totally hear them singing that song! I was so excited.

Just had to share! I'm sad that I'm missing it, but excited that people thought enough to call me!

James Otto Rattles the Charts With a No. 1 Single
After a Decade in Nashville, Singer-Songwriter Finally Has His Day
By Edward Morris

James Otto titled his new album Sunset Man, but he could have just as aptly dubbed it Persistent Man. The album has been nearly five years in the making, during which time Otto saw the careers of his buddies Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson skyrocket. Now it looks like it's finally his turn.

The week it was released, Sunset Man hit the Billboard country albums chart at a resounding No. 2, just 1,400 copies shy of ousting George Strait's Troubadour from the peak. At the same time, Otto's lead single, "Just Got Started Lovin' You," was in the Top 5 and moving up, powered in no small part by a sexy, sweet-talkin' music video. And just Monday (May 5), Otto learned that "Just Got Started Lovin' You" has become his first No. 1 single.

Otto co-wrote nine of the album's 11 songs and co-produced it with the ubiquitous John Rich of Big & Rich and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts. He admits he didn't approach the project with any particular concept or organizing principle in mind.

...

DeMarcus co-produced three cuts with Otto on Sunset Man. "The way I met Jay was that he started dating my wife's sister," Otto explains. "Amy and I had been together like a year and a half when Alison and Jay met. ... We started becoming friends, and then we started writing songs together. Eventually I asked him to do a demo session with me of a couple of songs that I had found and wanted to cut -- one that I'd written and one that he and I had written. Those tracks ended up being the songs on this record that he produced."

Besides various solo appearances this summer, Otto will also be running the road with Hank Williams Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd in the Rowdy Frynds tour and later with Brooks & Dunn and possibly Taylor Swift. But surely the sweetest situation for Otto will occur June 8 when he takes the stage at Nashville's mammoth LP Field to sing for the crowd gathered there for the CMA Music Festival.

"It's really exciting," he says. "I got to watch Big & Rich and Gretchen do the same thing the years their records took off. I was supposed to be on [the smaller] River Stages this year, but they invited me to come over to the big stage and play with the big boys."
