ATTN: South-Eastern Sorority Women!

I got this e-mail from my old chapter president...just thought I'd pass it along.

Quote:

Ladies-
Please be aware:
Man claiming to be a Theta Chi (sometimes a member, sometimes a "pledge") from West Virginia University has shown up at the DG house at U of Maryland and contacted the DG president at Virginia Tech. This man is in his 30s and, therefore, does not look like a college-aged fraternity man or "pledge," as he sometimes claims. He wants permission to drop the "pledges" off for some kind of event. He has contacted other groups on both of these campuses as well. The DGs at UMD called police, and the university officials there and at Va. Tech are aware. The UMD campus officials think the man will move on to other campuses once his "plan" is found out by the sorority women.

If this does occur, please call the police/campus police.

CREEPY.

On a completely unrelated and non creey incident...I found out that our Greek Life adviser here at OC was a Delta Gamma.

Hi, I know you're new around here and everything, but talking badly about other groups isn't generally acceptable around here. Also, the thread has nothing to do with whether it's a "good frat" or not. Getting a dig in on a group you don't like isn't cool

Yikes...I hope this guy doesn't get an idea to come south! I'm only a few hours away from WVU!

Jill1228 10-29-2004 05:03 AM

I gotta go there...

Co-sign! It is not very fraternal or panhellenic and when you diss an org (not matter how slight the dis). When you have your GLOs letters in the sig, it doesn't reflect well on the org, and that is not good :(

Not jumping on you...just saying be careful where and how you tread, hon! :)

I definitely didn't mean to talk bad or anything about the theta chi's at wvu. sorry if i offended anyone!
Sorry for belaboring the point, and I don't mean to jump on you either, but I'm a little puzzled...if you didn’t mean to “talk bad” about the Theta Chi’s @ WVU, how exactly did you mean for people to take your statements? Saying a group is not a good group & going on to comment on their unsuccessful recruitment is by definition, “talking bad,” (whether it's true or not is beside the point) and it is offensive-especially in this public forum. Sometimes it takes a while to get the hang of posting in a place like this, but I definitely think you should heed the words of your sister, Jill, before you post in the future.

I got the same email from someone at our AOII IHQ:

SECURITY ALERT FOR GREEKS:

A man has visited and called several chapters at the University of Maryland and possibly VA Tech claiming to be a new member of a fraternity at another school. He has asked if he and other new members could stop by the chapter house. According to UMD Panhellenic, the man arrived at the chapter house by himself. He was in his thirties, (obviously not a new member) and was acting very strangely. This man may move on to other campuses as well.

Please be very cautious and contact appropriate authorities if a suspicious person contacts or shows up at your chapter.
