Is this really necessary?
 

Whenever people start a thread over here in greek life is it really necessary to label it "NPC/NPHC/IFC/Whatever"? You know there are other fraternities and sororities that exist outside of your conference...

I think the purpose of lisiting all of those is not to be malicious and exclude people, but to be an invitation in an attempt to INCLUDE people who might not normally notice the thread...

I think what irks me more is the fact we've had 23904298374 threads of the same topic.

Basic GLO info doesn't really tend to change over time.

I don't know EVERY GLO's open motto and didn't really feel like looking through websites to figure them out. I was just curious. Just delete it then. Sorry.

This isn't an attack towards you Jocelyn, I've noticed over the years that many people address their threads to specific types of GLOs. I apologize for reacting that harshly towards you...

While I agree with you wholeheartedly, you also have to factor in that people don't think before they post that they should do a "search" and they're of the mind that they are the first one to ever even conceive of the idea. It's unfortunate, but I don't know how one would avoid it. If I have to read one more thread asking "What's the reputation of ADPi, Tri-Delta and ZTA at your school?" or "Should I go through rush?" or "I want to have a rockin' scavenger hunt and need ideas on how to haze my pledges!" or "I hate my fraternity and want to quit" or "I'm leaving Greek Chat for good... I mean it this time!" threads.... you know... gets repetitious and unnecessary....

If you're leaving the site, leave. If you are thinking about dropping out of your GLO, talk to someone in your chapter who has the inside scoop. If you are thinking about scavenger hunts or hazing, read your chapter bylaws, NPC bylaws and talk to your Greek Adviser. If you're thinking about rushing, but aren't sure, do it anyway. And if you want to know the "reputations" of a sorority at your school, go to class and get involved on your campus.

I dont see why its such a big deal. Some people werent around in 2000. So if I start a thread that was already started chances are different people will be responding.

Also if you dont want to read it you dont have to.....isnt that what everyone preaches anyway?
