I am not a member, and I hear what you are saying. But I just got back from seeing the premier of The Brothers and it was good. The ending is very surprising.

Girl, I feel you. Unfortunately, I don't see this happening. I, too, am a plus-size woman, and it does get discouraging, to say the least. Not just in movies, but videos, too. Example: In Avant's video for My First Love, the girl that he sings the duet with does not have a love interest in the video (she's a full-figured woman). The first time I saw that, I was upset. My ex couldn't understand why I even noticed that. But I did. He had a love interest, and when her turn came to sing in the video, she sings, but the story continues with HIM and HIS love interest. Maybe it was just me, but that just didn't sit well with me. The message it gives to me is that she can't have a love interest. And what is that all about??? That is why we have to stop looking to different mediums to validate ourselves and our self-esteem. Lord knows, we would never have a high self-esteem if we depended on the media to validate OUR images.

But I feel you, just once, I would like to see it, too.

Girl I havent seen Avant's video yet but now I can't wait. What is the deal!!!In all the videos there is not one plus size woman. I mean, I am a beauty, and my man thinks so as well, but it really disturbs me to see such things on TV.

Unfortunately we are programed to believe that that skinny = beautiful and large (which statistically is average since the average size women is--I think--around a size 14) = ugly. Even with people like Starr Jones comentators always comment on her size, even though I think she would be pretty in any size. Do you remember how people made a big deal out of the fact that in Waiting to Exhale Loretta Devine's character (Gloria?) was the one that was happy and with a man at the end (not that those things automatically go together) and that she was the 'plus size' one out of the group? I just want to go back and be a Ruben model where they appreciated the big girls!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
