I'm so disappointed
After initiation we always go out to get something to eat however I would say about 30 min before her DD shift one of my sisters decided to order a drink. Her excuse was that it’s only one drink and I said you start your DD shift within a half hour. So I told her that I would have to be the DD.
Since, I am the Risk Management and am in charge of the Party Monitor and DD I would have to take over. That I don’t have a problem with doing that. The problem I had is that no one around the table thought that her have one drink would not be a problem. So I’m sending her j-board and let them deal with her. Am I wrong but the DD is supose to be sober. I’m not sure how it is where you go to school but here at my school we have a ton a police roaming around. For some reason we are in a small town but we have police from the next town over and state troopers out on every night as well as our campus and local police roaming around. So pretty much if you’re doing something wrong your going to pulled over or talked to. Any way, at the party she decided that she would be a B**** and mock me all night by going around to everyone saying “are you okay you know I’m the DD” and then start laughing with everyone. Sometimes I feel as though there is no real sisterhood it’s false they only want to wear the letters. They could care less about anyone other than themselves. Sorry I'm just venting because I take being responsible for my sisters an important thing. I just don't think they care about anything or themselves. Annice |
I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Yes, the DD is supposed to be sober and you did the right thing. Unfortunately, some poeple in your chapter are not going to agree with me. Just don't worry... everything will sort itself out. Just make sure that J-board knows that as DD she was going to drink a half-hour before. That just isn't right... or sober.

Sorry to crash your board. I think you did the right thing though. I am one of those people that often if I have only "one" drink, I really feel it. Depending on what it is too, only "one" drink can have a lot of alcohol in it, especially frozen drinks like margaritas or the huge fish bowl-type drinks they have at places like Fridays. Plus we had a similar incident in our chapter once. One of the sisters (who had not been drinking) drove some new members home from an event after she had been spending time (again not drinking) in a bar/party something like that. Anyways, a new member innocently told her mom that the sister had drove them home from wherever they were and the mom jumped to conclusions and thought the sister was drinking, it was a huge big thing, and the mother ended up making her daughter drop, and I think contacted campus too. It is better to be safe then sorry and if your "sister" wants to be mean to you for not taking this issue seriously then SHE is the one with the problem, not you. I also went to a college where the police had nothing better to do then harass the Greeks so it is better to be safe then sorry.

While I'm not a Phi Sigma Sigma, I wanted to tell you GOOD JOB!! You absolutely did the right thing and made other people's lives the priority. Its a shame that she doesn't have the level of maturity to see that what she did was wrong.
I get so irritated with DDs who really think, "Oh, I just had one drink...it's ok." No, it's not ok. You made the commitment to remain completely sober and you shirked that responsibilty. Yes, perhaps she could have driven without too much of a problem, but what if she had gotten into a wreck (unrelated to the alcohol)? Then, the police are going to check her out and find alci on her. Then, Phi Sigma Sigma would be in the news - since they love anything that looks bad for Greeks - as the sorority who promotes drunk driving. Such a BAD situation!!! It makes me angry. |
I think you did the right thing! Good for you. I have never been much of a big drinker, but now that i got a car i wont drink even one drink if i know i am driving. i have seen this happen a lot where some girls think that one drink isnt a big deal but tell that to the cop that stops you...a D.U.I. is not a good thing.

annice,
you definately did the RIGHT thing!!! i know how hurt you felt with your sister making fun of the situation and all, but in the end, she'll realize what a complete ass she made of herself and appreciate you taking on her responsiblity... never under-estimate your judgements, because you could have just saved your sister's life (or sisters' lives!)... and thank goodness you don't have to say, "what if i had taken those keys??" you deserve a big ole hug ((((((annice)))))) and *snaps* to you for being the bigger person and modeling the right way to represent Phi Sig! :D :D LITP~beth |
Thanks for the replies
I talked with my sister and she did feel really bad and said that she was sorry and said that she would never do that again. She said that she was not thinking. So, I do feel really good knowing that I stood my ground on this issue. |
