Housing Board
I was asked the other day to serve on my old chapter's housing board. I said I would do it. Of course I lived in the house for two years when I was in school so I know a bit about serving on a housing board, but I was wondering if any of you have ever served on housing boards. What should I expect? One of my friends said, "Ooo, you don't want to be on housing board!" but the women I'm serving with have been on the board since I was living in the house (about 10 years) and I figure that it can't be all that bad. Several members of our AA serve on different housing boards around the state and some even serve on two. Just wanting some advice. Any will help. Thanks!

I never wanted to be on BT's housing corp-- and it is kind of the same here too-- same people have been on the board for yearssssssss! Actually ADPiShannan has just recently taken a position on BT's housing corp!!
Calling ADPiShannan!!!!!!!!!!!! (It is the same for AA here though too-- same old people for years!) |
I was on Alpha Iota's Housing Board when I was in school, but it's now technically defunct. I'm on the list for when one gets started back up, though.
Here's a question: When I was in school, we ALWAYS used a decorator, the reasoning was that no one person's style would dominate. Those of y'all who have HC's, do you use a decorator, or not? |
Wow! A decorater? To decorate common areas and rooms? Nope, at Epsilon Zeta (I lived in the house and will now be on the house corp board) there was no such thing. I think that it's up to the women on on the board to decide on what to do when things need to be "refreshed". Since I've lived there, they have updated carpet, remodeled bathrooms, bought new couches all on their own. They have redone the bedrooms and updated them. The have also painted the downstairs common areas, they had a delta's mom do the painting. The woman does painting for a living and painted each room differently, it looks great!
Thanks for the info on housing board! |
