Well, I COB'd Tri Sigma in the Spring of 2004.

Since then, I've been initiated (as of 9/10/04), and experienced my first EVER formal recruitment this fall! It was so much fun and I got my RUSH CRUSH! I was voted "Most Dedicated New Member" by my chapter.

In the 8 or so months that I've been a member, I've seen my chapter go from NOT interacting with other greeks at all, to being "in demand" for frat mixers and socials (We have 4 scheduled for just THIS semester) AND putting together a cool new event for our philanthropy, that EVERY sorority/fraternity wants to participate in!

I've learned that sororities here in Kent could really care less what color you are or what disability you have. When you get a bid, you get it b/c the sorority sees your potential, NOT out of pity.
I am thankful everyday that I checked out Sigma and they saw my potential to be an outstanding sister.

I've learned how much of a time commitment a sorority is, and the true meaning of "To receive much, you must give much." (from "Forever Sigma").

Here's the link to the beginning of my rush thread!

And the happy ENDING!!!! :)

Wow, why is that EXACTLY how I feel?! :D

I'm still so happy with my choice and with being chosen by some of the most amazing ladies. Even after all the glitz and glamour of rush has faded I still know that this is my home, this is where I belong. I'm so grateful that everything worked for me the way it did. =)

I love it! I am having so much fun! We had presents last night and it was so awesome being out with the girls and dancing the night away! We have retreat this weekend and i am looking forward to it. It was tough at first getting to know all the girls in my plegde class let alone the sisters but with dinners, socials sleepovers and a bakeoff things have been falling into place. We initiate on the 13th of november and i cant wait!

I joined the Delta Sigma colony (now chapter) of Delta Gamma in Spring 2003!

It was so exciting being a part of something new. I, along with my 133 pledge sisters, worked hard to build the best chapter we could. It paid off on April 6, 2003 when we were initiated and installed as a chapter!

Our chapter has done great! We have participated in 2 formal recruitments and have made quota both times! I have been involved in DG as much as possible, and was named Honor Board Member-at-Large my first semester! Currently, I am holding the positions of Director of Social Awareness and Honor Board Junior Member.

I will graduate in May, and while I wish my collegiate time with Delta Gamma had been longer, I can't wait to get involved as an Alumna!!

Here is a link to my recruitment story!

I just thought I'd add that I was the first new member out of 26 to say our purpose! It felt awesome!

GtownGirl98 10-22-2004 09:22 AM

Congrats RayRay! I am so glad for you! I've been out for a few years but I still remember my first time... and it was harder for us because we didn't have anyone before us to teach us the right cantor or beat or whatever you do when you recite something with a group...

Have fun and enjoy every moment of your new member period!

I still get goose bumps when I say our Purpose. I encourage you to really think about the words you're saying and what they mean every time you say it. It is such a wonderful ideal to strive for!

It's awesome being a founding sister. Two weeks after receiving bids, our colony won first place in the Kappa Alpha Kingpin Bowling tournament. We won $300, which will go directly to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. We are also particpating in Homecoming this year, and we took 3rd place in the Quiz Bowl event. We are also represented on the Homecoming Court, and we find out the results on Saturday!

The colony has been divided into 7 committees. I'm on the Sisterhood committee, and I am currently making a calendar of all non Tri Delta events that our sisters are involved in. That way, the sisters can support each other in other activities. Other committees have came up with T-shirt designs, social activities, and risk mangement strategies. We are also learning about recruitment, Tri Delta's history, and things that we should and shouldn't say (some of us are still saying "rush" instead of "recruitment"). It's been an overwhelming but postive experience so far. Installation is 3 weeks away, and it's going to be awesome!!! I can't wait!

I saw my cousin over Thanksgiving and she is having a wonderful time as a new member of Chi Omega! :) She is very excited about moving into the house next school year. (I saw pictures, the house there is beautiful!)

I initiated in Fall '03, and my pledge class recently celebrated our one-year anniversary! I've been exposed to the realities of sorority life, and while hard at points, I'm trying to take the good with the bad. It's been a tough semester, but I've had my sisters behind me.
